Zero loss this week-help!

Postby FertileMyrtle » December 13th, 2006, 7:15 pm

No weight lost this week--in my journal I confessed to having very brief minor nibbles of indescretion every couple days, and maybe that threw me out of ketosis, (no candy bars or fast food or anything crazy-maybe a cracker, or one cookie, and one night a s1/2 bag of popcorn) but my calories have been super low, and I've been drinking my water!! Has this happened to you, and what should I do and expect?
I lost 10 lbs in 12 days, and then nothing in the next 6 days. Aslo, I've been excercising lightly-Curves, AB workouts, sculpting videos...

The same thing I said in your journal.....with one addition. If you are eating off program, do you really need to ask what you should do?

And I'll let you in on a little secret that is well known by successful Medifasters.......cheating makes the whole thing harder to accomplish in more ways than one. The biggest reason, though, is that it causes you to crave off program foods. If you want to white knuckle this program, just eat some carbs (ie. popcorn).

Stick to the program and the cravings go away and you lose weight......it's that simple.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but truly, you need to give the program a chance if you want to succeed. Brief indescretions are still indescretions and a cookie is a cookie and it's not on program, so if you aren't losing weight, that would be the first thing I would look at.

Andrea, compliance is key. No nibbles, No popcorn; maybe No fun in the compliance, but there is a ton of fun in the weight loss. Stick to the program, drink your water, work out lightly~ you'll get where you're going.
Best Wishes!

Hi

Postby dede4wd » December 13th, 2006, 8:47 pm

Oops, I answered you in my journal. Not too bright. I agree wholeheartedly with Jo and Amber...they know what they're talking about! ..here's the highlights of my journal post...

I also had a period where I was adding a little cheese to my soup, a little this or that to my L & G and a 2nd Jello AND celery. Everything I was adding was allowed, but it blew my ratio balance...I realized I was trying to make it DeDe's plan instead of MF and it became pretty obvious that "DeDe's plan" wasn't getting it done. That's where I learned not to mess with Medifast. I do much better when I work the plan as written.

Plus, it was a double-edged sword for me because the more I "added", the hungrier I got!

I can only talk about myself, I can't say what has happened with me. But I am "seasoned" (mostly with garlic pepper! Tee hee!), maybe talking about what has happened to me might help someone else!

My advice...don't mess with Medifast! If it isn't in the quick start guide (in the amounts it says), it doesn't go in my mouth! I know I sound like a broken record...but this plan is HARD if you don't do the above and EASY if you do!

Ditto on all that!

Oh, and one thing I think people forget is that being knocked out of ketosis does not mean you gain weight - it means you gain HUNGER! :-) As Jo said, you're making the diet much more difficult on yourself, why would ya wanna do that?

100% compliance - you'll feel great, lose weight, and cravings will subside!

Good luck -

Can't top what's been said, nor add much to it. But, I will put my name down on the petition with a :

DITTO to the advice you've been given !! 100% compliance is the only way to go.

PLEASE don't think we're picking on you! I for one just want you to experience the "medi-zone". It's really hard to describe to those that haven't been in it.

I'm not hungry, I have to set my alarm to remind me to eat, I have minor cravings, but thery're just TV commercial related, and they just pass! I just feel GOOD! My moods are steady all day, I sleep soundly and I'm just happy! People that haven't experienced the "medi-zone" don't understand what I'm talking about. Those of us that are in the zone just want those that are struggling to experience it!

We're here if you need us!

So what you're saying is 100%compliance is the key? lol Well, I read a post in The Elevator by Gerald, and the part about his mother-in-law who followed weight watchers religiously, but licked the cake knife and nibbled (and never lost weight)...that really hit home. I'm not a big picker, and my picks were not mini-meals by any stretch. However, like Dede said, I think it began with overdressing the chili, skipping veggies in my L/G, and then "Andrea-fying" by compensating later...with a cracker. And then being hungrier!

Well, I've posted notes all over my kitchen, and I will be compliant till I'm done!

Argghh!! Why am I so hard headed?? Part of me wants to argue "Hey--no ones perfect!! You've cheated, too!" And the answer would proobably be some thing like "Yes, and that's why we KNOW that 100% compliance is the esy way!"

I tried the Weight Watchers Core program/vodka diet too. Didn't get the optimum results. (I do I to say that I did lose weight, mostly when I cut out the vodka...)
