I Would like some chat buddies. Please !

Postby littlekitten » July 6th, 2006, 11:27 am

Hello All.

I am a 33yo married mom of 3 boys and 1 little lady in Maryland. I am also a new nurse. I just received my 1st order of Medifast yestarday but I don't know if I should wait to start until I find out how my shift is going to run or if I should start now. I would love to start now but I don't want to mess myself up if I'm too busy to eat regularly :?: . I will be working 3 12 hour shifts/week at night. I am so impatient and excited. I have been searching for message boards, pictures, and anything else I could find about Medifast and I am so blown away at alot of the quick extraordinary results. WOW :o ! I would love to find some chat buddies to keep me motivated and to be my shoulders to cry on. Thanks for reading. Oh P.S. I am 5'5 3/4" and right now I am 271.5 lbs. My goal weight is 150lbs in 6 months if it's possible.

Aloha & Welcome

Congratulations in taking the first step in reaching your goals! I think one of the greatest features of this program (I like to call it a "lifestyle") is the convienance of it. It is easy to transport and mix at work. Go For Broke! I've been taking this day by day. I was fortunate my first week flew by without a hitch. I've had a few challenging moments, however, this forum has been my life - line. You can do this!

Thank you so much for replying to my post Alohacate. It is so nice to know that there are people out there willing to support you. I know that this is not going to be easy but I have to do this before I begin to have real health problems. Thanks for being there :-P .

Welcome!

120 pounds in 6 months might be asking too much. Why not make your goal more manageable and then maybe you'll get a pleasant surprise!

hi; welcome!
everyone here is really cool and supportive. people say that you should time your start to ensure success. it seems to me that no matter when you start, you are going to have to work mf into your day. so, jump into it with the mindset that you will never deviate from the program, that you will drink tons of water, and that you will come here for a nudge when you feel low instead of the fridge.
:D
if you stick to it, you'll love it.

Hey there!! I am a 34 year old mother of 3 boys. Their ages are 5, 4, and 10 months. I am also a student nurse. I will graduate in December. I am 5'4" and I started at 237. I am 201 presently. I joined the forum before I started MF. I actually started MF on April 27. You have set a really BIG goal loss for yourself in a short time frame. I am not going to say it isn't possible, but realistically, it might not happen. What has worked for me and many others on board is setting short term goals with mini rewards. I just don't want you to be all bummed out if you don't reach your goal. I am online frequently, and chat all the time. In the fall when school starts back up, I will be a little shorter on time. PM me anytime you would like. If you want, pm me with your private email and I will send you an invite to join my Yahoo Instant Messaging. There are several of us that use that, and we chat often. There are also live chats on Tuesday nights right here on the forum. You need to send UncaTim a pm and request an invitation to that. When to start-------for me, the longer I wait, the harder it gets. If you already have your stuff, and you have made up your mind to be 100% compliant, then go for it!! Start now. You can readjust your medimeals when you get your schedule. Good luck!!

Hi

Postby dede4wd » July 6th, 2006, 1:38 pm

I just wanted to say welcome! A lot of us have our yahoo chat ID's and such at the bottom of our posts if you need to IM someone! Or you can just post, there's ALWAYS someone here to give you a "you can do it" or answer your questions.

As far as doing MF while at work, nothing is easier! I say no time like the present to start! I also HIGHLY suggest the Ready to Drink shakes, they're so easy on the go!

I've had a lot of success on the program and am thrilled by the results. I set a lot of mini-goals so I wouldn't get discouraged! And I thought of a bunch of non-food rewards for when I hit the mini goals!

The general consensus is that people lose 2-5lbs a week on the program. Some a little bit more, some a little bit less. I set my goals at a rate of 12-16lbs a month...it was doable. It helped keep me on track and motivated because I wasn't falling behind! I was keeping up with my goals.

Basically, read the quick start guide over and over. I follow it to a "t". My advice is work the plan and the plan will work for you! We're here if you need us!

You all are so great. I can tell already that I will totally enjoy being a member of this board :D . I think I will stock up on my grocery shopping tomorrow and make sure that I have my L&G meals pre planned so that I don't slip. This will also be a good opportunity to feed my family better as well. I will make my goals more realistic and just be happy with a steady weight loss. I was also thinking about getting an elliptical to work out on while I'm losing. I am so pumped and ready to go. I'm glad that I found this board. OK wish me luck.

Welcome, littlekitten !! I just started MF about a week ago (I can't believe it's already been that long :-P) and the more I stick to the schedule and follow the "Quick Start" book to a "T" (like dede suggests) the happier I am with it all. I LOVE it :yippee:, and I think you will, too.

Glad to have you here :).

Hi Little Kitten and welcome to the forum! The support here is totally give and take with the most wonderful people you will ever want to 'meet'! :D

As far as working your 12 hour shift and also having a family to care for, as well as keeping in mind your sleep schedule, only you will be able to come up with a suitable MF eating plan designed around your work schedule. Much will depend on how busy the floor is when you are at work.

As someone suggested, the Ready to Drink Shakes are wonderful and can be fit into your nursing schedule--call it "sip and run"!! Trust me, been there! During your waking-working hours, you should try to have a supplement every 2-3 hours to stave off hunger and keep the old metabolism cranking. Again, you might give the Ready to Drinks a try, so convenient, quick and no mess to clean up and easy to get in on an especially busy night.
Good luck with your program, and keep us posted. :D

You may not hit that goal, but if you stick with the program, you WILL be a lot closer than if you don't - that's a sure thing!!!

Welcome, and congrats on the new job.

Hi There,
I read your post and you have the right attitude. You do need to part with those pesky pounds while you still have no health issues. Parting with the pounds to loooook great is fine but it is wonderful that you realize the real reason they need to go. You have 4 children and you certainly want to stay healthy for them. I think you'll make it -- take it week by week and don't be discouraged if some weeks the loss is not as much or maybe nothing. Your body is working on it!! Just be very very constistant, drink your water and follow the program to a "t". That way you'll be parting with those pesky pounds in the very safest and quickest manner. I'll be watching for you:D
