Work is Fun!

Postby Arklahoma » April 18th, 2006, 10:45 pm

Just wanted to share my story from this past weekend that was a terrific morale booster. I've lost about thirty lbs in 2 months and I hadn't purchased any new scrubs for work yet. This past week I finally broke down and purchased some new ones and the response was almost too much. Everyone totally freaked out and couldn't believe how much weight I'd lost. These are people I work with every week and only one or two people had previously noticed. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I heard, "You look amazing" or great or wow. They weren't shy about it ... I'm talking eyes bugging out of their heads with animated tone of voice and gestures.

Even though nursing is a female-dominated profession, the unit I work in is almost completely male and I've never received such a reception from male co-workers before in my life. The last couple of weeks, I've had slow losses and I guess I was starting to feel a little down but now I'm completely rejuvenated! Who knew work could be so fun?

That is so great! Those compliments certainly do help keep you going don't they?

It is funny how clothes really do tell it all. When I finally broke down and bought new pants because my 24's were falling down and REALLY baggy, that was when many of the people at my work noticed the weight loss. The girls in the Exec. Area where I worked new but as I walked around the company....suddenly I was getting all these looks and comments.

I am sure your scrubs must have been hanging off you!!! Watch out because you'll be buying new, smaller ones soon!

Congrats Arkie!!!

Wow Arklahoma!!!
That is soo great. I'm happy you finally got some scrubs that fit!!
As to the rest of us:
--- we need to get out there and get us some clothes that fit too!!! Even if we go shopping atthe Goodwill. I know I hang on to my "tooo big clothes too" and wear them all the time. I am frugal to say the least  It finally dawned on me ..... hmmmm with the help of Nancy, Bonnie, Becky and my daughter .... that my clothes were hiding my progress. It is sooooo much fun to have people notice the missing pounds :D

Thanks for all the + replies to my post. I felt so good that I went to the park for a walk, today. This is huge for me b/c I absolutely abhor exercise and try to find any excuse that I can to NOT do it. Anyway, I figure I need to make exercise a regular part of my regimen b/c I'm in this for life!

Weigh to go ARK!!! To look good in scrubs.....well, that is tough. Not many people can say they look good in their scrubs. They just don't do a shape justice. Keep up the good work. You will be there before you know it!!

Unfortunately, our facility mandates white scrubs, across the board. No color allowed b/c white is the symbol of a medical professional ~ so they say :x

UGH...I HATE white scrubs. We have to wear white as well. I feel like the Stay Puff Marshmallow man walking down the hall. Poor you. Oh well, you look good in them anyway...your male counterparts even said so.
