Had it happen to me the other day. As a member of a Symphonic Choir here in the Bay Area, I started MF towards the end of the concert "season" last March. One evening while taking a rehearsal break, I struck up a conversation with the accompaniest and he told me how he was trying to lose weight. I sympathized and told him I was on MF and had enjoyed some success, at the time about 30+ pounds in 6 weeks. He asked me for the info and for the next couple of weeks kept asking me how I was doing and commenting on how he could really see me starting to lose weight. He was still hesitant about going on MF as his partner preferred he stick to a "normal" diet and workouts at the gym. (which weren't working).
Fast forward to September... I was about 80 pounds lighter and people noticed when I walked into the rehearsal room. In fact, some people didn't even recognize me. I saw someone sitting at the piano bench with his back to me and commented to a fellow alto, "who's the new piano player?" Just as I said that, he turned around, saw me, jumped off the bench and ran over to me. He had the biggest grin on his face, and I could see that it was the old accompaniest. He looked great and I told him so. Asked him what he was doing to lose the weight and he said he'd followed my advice and went on MF. Had lost 60 pounds over the summer and felt terrific.
Fast forward again to this past week. "Mike" sought me out at break and said that his sister was now on Medifast and that she had lost 20 pounds her first month. She was so excited and he was so proud of her, and then he said..."My mom should have your picture hanging over her mantelpiece. You saved both of her children's lives." Wow! That was probably the best NSV I'd ever experienced.
I'm pretty sure that a lot of us have had that effect on others. Some folks will tell you, others won't, but you've affected them nonetheless. So stand proud, stick to it and keep shakin'. The life you save may be more than your own.
