What Do You Do To Make The MF Food Taste Better

Postby loriannk » May 19th, 2006, 9:24 am

We posted what our favorite MF foods are but I thought it would be nice to see what we do to the food to make it taste better. Maybe give some people some ideas. Not everything is in the Lean Cuisine section. If you need a recipe just ask.

When I eat the Vanilla Shakes I like to but some SF DaVinci Strawberry & Banana syrup & blend with ice.

The Chicken Noodle Soup I put a chicken bullion cube & some Mrs Dash in it.

The Oatmeal (doesn't really matter the flavor)

Oatmeal Pancakes with SF, FF, Calorie free, Carb Free Walden Farms Pancake Syrup on top.

Oatmeal Granola Bites - So nice and crunchy for my TV watching snack

Oatmeal Muffins - I put a bit of SF, FF, Calorie free, Carb Free Walden Farms Fruit Spread on Top.

Oatmeal Cookies - They are pretty good all spiced up with some splenda.

Here are some ideas of how I eat my suppliments. Please add your own.

Lori

PS Sorry Unca if this is in the wrong section. Move it if you gotta. :D

I put hot sauce in just about every soup when I need a change. I have three kinds: regular red sauce, green jalapeno sauce, and brown chipotle sauce. I also have mrs. dash in lemon pepper and tomato basil garlic which I'll add to a soup. The other day I put chili sauce, soy sauce, and vinegar in my chicken noodle soup to make it sort of hot and sour-y. I pretty much like the shakes and oatmeals as is so I leave them alone. I hate the smore bar though so I tried toasting it in the toaster oven the other day. It was warm and crunchy on the edges and slightly better in taste than normal :)

Hi Lori, Freshly ground peppercorn medleys, steak seasoning, granulated garlic/parsley, and chili powder in the chili and some of the soups. Pepper varieties in all of the soups, sometimes hot sauce, too.

Not a fan of the shake powders, except Dutch Chocolate, as is, and Orange, and add SF raspberry syrup. Oatmeals, as is, or sometimes add a little cinnamon and SF pancake syrup.
For me, variety is an important factor in my weight loss efforts, and once in awhile, it is good to 'shake things up a bit'!

The original Mrs. Dash in the Minestrone soup is AWESOME!! I didn't like that soup before but with that Mrs. Dash it is sooooo great, and makes me drink my water hehe.

Tabasco sauce in all the soups and the chili.

I am a big fan of extracts for the shakes- banana, strawberry, orange, vanilla. I put instant coffee in the vanilla shakes and cappuchino also Sweet & Low or Splenda.

Cinnimon for the oatmeals.

I don't like any of the bars.

This is a GREAT thread! Good idea Lori

Hi guys!

In a pinch, plain old black pepper does wonders for the soups!

I use Better Than Bouillon (chicken flavored) in my fastsoups, Cream of Chicken and Broccoli (all the soups taste better to me with some bouillon in them).
Taco sauce and salsa in my chili (yup, I use salsa and I always will).:p
8-10 drops of peppermint extract in my Hot Cocoa (always!).
2 packets of Splenda and cinnamon in my apple oatmeal and maple oatmeal (hate the other oatmeal flavors).
Lots of crushed ice in my Cranberry Mango.
And I cut up my F&N and Oatmeal cinnamon bars (they are the only bars I like) into little squares (for some reason, they taste better to me cut up). :)
Motto: The time will pass whether I diet or not.

Let's see ...

A spoonful of Rotel or salsa, some dried roasted garlic and a little hot sauce in my cream of broccoli. Or occasionally some Better Than Bouillon in lobster or ham flavor.

Better Than Bouillon chili base, some dried onion, ground cumin and a little Rotel or salsa in the chili.

Hot sauce or ground ginger in the chicken noodle.

Two packets of Splenda and some cinnamon in all the oatmeals.

Occasionally some cinnamon in the chocolate pudding or hot chocolate, but mostly now I drink the cocoa cold, made with cold water and ice in a Magic Bullet.

That's it right now, since I'm still staying away from the DaVinci a little longer.

I am new to this board (10 days in and 5 pounds down - hooray!) but the biggest trick I do is with the oatmeal - which I just can't stand as is!

I think I read it on this board but I make the muffin or cookie recipe on the side of the box, put it in a 7 oz pyrex type dish (actually they are by Anchor Hocking - got 4 with blue tupperware type lids for 3 or 4 dollars at Wal Mart - they stack perfectly in the fridge) and bake it for 25 minutes or so.

A bit of ICBINB spray on top and it tastes like cake! I just couldn't deal with the spongy cookies - the texture seemed like muffins or cake so this works better for me. I love the apple cinnamon like this but the peach is good too . . .

I love the vanilla shake with DaVinci sugar free kaluha syrup in it

I always put a bullion cube and lemon pepper seasoning in the chicken soups . . . yummy!

Mostly the same as what was said....

Cinnamon to oatmeal..also pour the h2o in he night before and let it thicken up and soak into the oatmeal. just nuke it in the AM

Soups work best--my favorite soup is wild rice one. I let it soak for a while. I sometimes add in the Mrs. Dash and maybe chicken bouillion.

I like adding cinnamon to hot choc. It depends how I feel that day on shake additions, but lots of ice!

I love things a little tart and tangy so here's my favorite recipe:

16 oz. of Water
1 Crystal Light to Go Lemonade Packet
1 Tropical Punch, Cranberry Mango Punch, Strawberry Shake or Orange Shake Packet

Place all in a Blender Bottle and shake vigorously until blended. Pour into a tall glass filled with ice and sip through a straw. (Paper umbrella optional) Yummy!!!

I've tried this in a Blender but like it better mixed up in the Blender Bottle. With the hot weather here now I have this twice a day.

Some of my tricks:

Toriani Sugar Free Carmel in Chocolate and Vanilla Shakes
Toriani Sugar Free Rasberry in Vanilla/Strawberry/or Orange Shakes
Make shakes with Diet Soda (I love black cherry with Chocolate!)
Always add Better than Boulion and hot sauce (I use Cajun Chef) to Chili and Chicken noodle soups
A little salt and sometimes ICBNB Spray on the oatmeal (YUM!)
I make the muffins into two mini loaf pans and they are like bars almost and easy to take on the go!

I'm sure there are others I'm just not thinking right now. I gotta go find that crunchy granola bite recipie, I could use something like that!

Curry powder in the chicken noodle, or boullion and Mrs Dash.
Mrs Dash tomato and garlic plus half a packet of splenda in tomato soup
Cinnamon and vanilla, or peppermint extract in both the chocolate pudding and hot chocolate.
Tons of cinnamon and apple pie spice plus a packet of splenda in the apple oatmeal.
SF apricot spread on the oatmeal muffins.
Hot sauce, cumin powder and chili powder in the chili.

i must be masochistic.
for now at least, i don't doctor any food, because i figure the less i like it the more functional it remains.

then again, i was eyeing my dog munching on her kibble earlier...

Hey, whatever works. I knew from the beginning that if I didn't like the food, I wouldn't stick to the diet.
