VARIETY

Postby BettinaV » September 5th, 2006, 8:59 am

Hi I just started MF ten days ago. I was really nervous about the food and whether I could stick to it. Before I started I did a lot of research on recipes and things that might make this easier. To my surprise, when the food got here, I found it wasn't bad. I actually enjoy all of it with help from the Davinci SF syrups and a lot of spices, boullion, and other condiments. I loaded up on carb free items like BBQ sauce, A1sauce, etc. for the LG meals. And my cupboard now is stocked with all kinds of flavorings, spices and things so that I won't get bored. I actually think this is fun. Coming up with new varieties every day.

I put curry powder in all the chicken soups. Cayenne, Chili Powder and Cumin in the chili. With the shakes, there are so many things to try -- sugar free Koolaid, Crystal Light and of course extracts and syrups. I also just bought these little packets called True Lemon. I have not seen anyone talk about them on this site but they have 0 carbs, 0 calories and 0 fat. I add them to some things, even the chicken soups for a little zest. In the Minestrone I add some red pepper flakes, Ms. Dash's original, and garlic powder. The only thing I have not mastered is the pudding. Never liked it as a kid and not sure what to do. I see that others have tried it as a shake so I am going to do that next. Chocolate pudding, some ice and banana extract sounds good! As for the oatmeal, I just got the brown sugar version of Sweet N Low and spray a little spray of ICBINB, as well as add pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, etc. Much better.

Yep, we've discussed True Lemon. They make True Lime, too. And you can get a shaker jar rather than little packets for home use.

As for the pudding, I didn't like it at first and now I love it. I mix up the chocolate pudding with raspberry Crystal Light instead of water, shake it up in the shaker jar until it won't shake anymore, then leave it in the fridge for a while (half an hour to all day). But for the first few months, it was way too sweet - and too soy - for me.

Food Fix'ins

Postby Harmony » September 5th, 2006, 3:09 pm

This is a great. All of you have such wonderful tricks. Here are a couple of mine. Not sure they are totally legal - if not please let me know.

I have the either soup or chili for lunch everyday.

In the chili I add a little bit of chopped bell pepper, a little bit of chopped celery, and a dash of hot sauce. Taste great!

In the soups I add a little bit of chopped celery, a little bit of chopped water chestnuts, and of course a dash of hot sauce. My two favorite soups are the chicken rice and minstrone.

I love the variety of MF. This is the easiest food plan that I have ever been on with extra ordinary results!

Keep the tips coming -

I just had my doctored chicken noodle and it is now my favorite soup - I added Spicy Mrs. Dash, Herbamare seasoning, and thyme. It was really good. I may have this soup twice a day. Mmmmm.

PUDDING

Postby BettinaV » September 5th, 2006, 8:01 pm

Okay an update from this morning. I did use the chocolate pudding to make a shake with ice and banana extract. Much better, in my opinion, than ever having to eat pudding. I am going to try with the banana pudding tomorrow as I had the chocolate today.

Other hints are Danandbucks.com for their rubs. I got that off a post here and ordered it today. I also got the Molly McCheese to put in the cream of broccoli soup. I have Molly McButter as well for veggies and for the oatmeal. I also love the Annie's natural salad dressings. Not all of them work for us Medifast kids but I love the ginger one. And I marinate chicken in the fat free, low carb italian dressing by Bernstein. Hmmmmm we can be quite the chefs on this can't we????

DIET SODAS IN SHAKES

Postby BettinaV » September 5th, 2006, 8:09 pm

Oh yeah, I forgot...One thing I do with the shakes is use diet soda or no calorie flavored water or seltzer instead of plain water. I love putting diet chocolate fudge soda in the chocolate shake. Cream soda in the vanilla and banana. Orange soda with the orange cream, etc. It just gives them an extra boost of flavor and makes them seem more like ice cream or frozen yogurt. Truthfully I thought the shakes would be the worst part. I HATE HATE HATE Slimfast and the Atkins shakes. So I was terrified I would not make it on this with all the shakes. I was wrong. You can really make them taste great. One thing I can't wait to get is the Davinci SF Egg Nog syrup. I think that will be yummie in the vanilla shake!

DAVINCI SYRUPS

Postby BettinaV » September 5th, 2006, 10:55 pm

Hi, Dogma, if you read this...It says that you are staying away from the Davinci syrups for a while. I just bought a ton of them and so far so good. Is there something wrong with them or did they make you sick?

Thanks

oatmeal

Postby Harmony » September 7th, 2006, 10:57 am

Everyone seems to comment that they don't like or enjoy the oatmeal. I have found that I make it in the microwave with more water than the instructions suggest and it turns out a little soupy. I pour this in a coffee cup and drink/eat it on my way work in the car. Other drivers probably think I am crazy but it works for me! :-P
