What is with the price of swimsuits?

Postby Prancer » July 25th, 2006, 11:28 am

Seriously why does it cost $100 to buy something that has half the fabric of normal clothes??? The suit I have I got a year or two ago at walmart and it was pretty cheap. It isnt fitting so well now that I have lost weight and it stretched. For some reason Walmart doesnt have any plus sized swim wear this year. I have looked everywhere but I am unwilling to spend that much money on a swimsuit that prob wont work for next year.

The bathing suits I have tried on at Target are flimsy and provide very poor support.

I have a Calvin Klein suit that I just threw out because it ripped. I bought it about 8 years ago. The black color never faded, the elastic was not worn-- I was clumsy and stuck my nail through the sheer part of the fabric.

I buy more expensive suits because they last through sand, sea, chlorine, and many washes.

I know what you mean...In April I boughta size 18 at Lane Bryant, because I didn't have a suit that was big enough. All of mine were from several years ago and I looked like a stuffed sausage in them. Well guess what? Now my $85 new suit is TOO BIG!!!! I'm wearing a 14 again! YES! I'm happy but $85 poorer.

OH I KNOW! It costs so much to get a quality bathing suit. I've managed to get a couple new ones for around 60$ each. I've searched and searched but if you really want a quality one with support then I guess we have to pay the price.

I agree- Old Navy swimsuits are great. And cheap. And the tops fit like bras and have underwire, so you have good support.

That is just rude! She obviously was never taught manners!

I have always had a hard time with bathing suits. Last year I had to buy one wearable in public  and I ordered it from I think LLBean. (or the catalog similar) it is ok for what it is. The quality is good though lol

Wow, that Fashion Bug girl was mean!. Our Fashion Bugs around here have 2 sides to teh store. One side is Misses and the other side is Women's and Plus sizes. All the Old Navy's around here though are the opposite, nothing that would fit anyone over 12 years old. No Plus sizes at all. What's up with that??

Unca you want Rock Star grade Girls????

Our Fashio bug is the same tho for some reason a couple months ago they flopped the sides so where all the plus was on the right it is now on the left. It was weird. As far as the comment the sales lady said....so much for being on the "shopping for a swimsuit cause I lost 20 pounds" high. She shot that full of holes.

i bought one at sears or jc penny... i think...was around 50..got it over a year ago..."was" too tight until now... so the new suit i bought for 50 this year is useless and baggy in the bum hehe. but the one i bought a year ago is great. its a 2 piece with boy shorts and a halter tankini... though...my reason for starting crocheting is that im crocheting a string bikini for next summer hehehehe... strictly for tanning...im afraid my crocheting might be faulty and i dont want nip slips in public lol
