What takes you out of Ketosis?

Postby BoPeep1 » April 19th, 2006, 2:48 pm

My subject pretty much says it all, but I'm curious (no, not thinking about cheating!) What takes you out of ketosis? Fat? Calories? Sugar?

I do not know much about anything- but I would say it is sugar. When you eat starch, it converts to sugar in your body... So... Even too much letuce can take you out of keotisis from what I have learned.

Carbs, whether they're sugar or otherwise. Fat will put you deeper into ketosis usually. Calories have nothing to do with it. This is why even Medifast says somewhere that if you have to eat off-program for some reason, keep it low-carb so you'll remain in ketosis.

Hi there--carbs & sugars are the main culprits. However, in addition to avoiding those, it's also very important on the Medifast program to keep things well balanced. That is one of the key reasons why it works so well. There is a definite balance in each of the meals when it comes to calories, carbs, fat, protein, etc. So... make sure you always have a Lean with your Green and a Green with your Lean, and all 5 MF supplements! It's the whole combination that keeps those scales going down & our self esteem going up!
