What Inspires You?

Postby VTGirlie » August 7th, 2006, 8:05 am

Hi there!

So, as I've been reading the last couple of weeks it looks like a bunch of us have toppled off the wagon, horse, etc. I'm wondering what it takes us to get motivated (or re-motivated, as it were)?

So, when you are having a rough day, or you are re-starting, or simply trying to convince yourself to eat that fifth supplement, what is it that motivates you? How do YOU get excited about the program and your health?

I'll start:

1) I look at my wedding picture (the weight I'd like to be again!)
2) I'll grab a people or other magazine to remind me of how gorgeous the human body can be (albeit unatainable for most of us- still sometimes it can inspire!)
3) I'll pull out my "goal dress" which is what I'd like to wear 50 pounds from now!
4) I'll pull out my old size 24 jeans to remind me that I do NOT want to wear those 50 pounds from now!

Anyone else?

Thanks!

Actually there has been similar threads to this in the Elevator. One called " what motivates you?" and " what are you looking most forward to?"
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Start Weight 326.7 ~ My short term goal will put me at 250!

I think I posted to those a while back, too. Thought it would be fun for some of the newbies and those struggling to do a new one, too! :)

Looking into the eyes of my five year old son, I know that I will succeed at this. I also keep pulling out my size 6 dress (which I could probably wear on my leg right now) to get a boost!

This Man: He is the love of my life. He supports me, encourages me, walks beside me as I struggle. I know that this is possible because of him.

Well, my kids. My 5 year old is a cancer survivor. My 11 month old was born 17 weeks premature and weighed only 1 pound 3 ounces. The odds were stacked against both of them. But, they were strong and they fought to live. If they can beat those odds, certainly I can muster up the courage to fight this fat war and come out on the "losing" side. And, my middle son Max and my husband John have been there stong and supportive through it all. Max is wise beyond his 4 little years. He just "cracks me open" and makes me realize how precious life really is. I want to live a long and healthy life and enjoy it with them by my side.

Different things at different times. But frequently, it's the people here. People like Supermom and PJinCali, who keep going in spite of everything. Or people who start out so much further from goal than I did, at 300 or even 400 pounds. If they can do this, how can I NOT?

I am motivated because I had told myself, that once and for all, it is time to get healthy, get off my meds, which is happening, thank goodness, and to know that I may just give myself several more years to get more Grandma hugs, and enjoy watching my Grandbaby grow. The time is now.

Numbers are what motivate me.

327, 42, 12, 4, 199, 2025, 61

327 - The most I ever weighed, also my start weight for Medifast
42 - How old I will be next week
12 & 4 - How old my son's are.
199 - How much I need to weigh at a minimum if I want to go with my oldest son to Philmont in 2 years.
2025 - The anticipated year that my youngest son will graduate college (or get out of jail for the first time)
61 - How old I will be in 2025

Bottom line is my goal is to be at a "healthy" weight so that I can hopefully do things with my son's well into my 60's. I started my family late in life, and if I want to be around to see my son's either graduate from college, or make it through their first parole board, then I need to not weigh 327lbs. and live a healthier life.
