Mr. Darcy is a character from (IMHO) one of the world's greatest books, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

Okay--well see I hate to read. I just don't have the patience. I read my school books, my bible, and childrens books. Other than the newspaper, that is it for me. And movies, well I generally don't like older movies, or movies set in older times. I don't know why, I just don't. Give me a good modern romance anyday.

Yes, Jenn, I did see the new movie (the Keira Knightley one). I think Matthew MacFayden made a GREAT Mr. Darcy. He said SO MUCH with his eyes and played it a completely different Mr Darcy than Colin Firth! I loved him in MI-5 anyway!

As for Bridget Jones...the author of both books fully admitted that her story was a take on (or a homage to) pride and prejudice, so Colin Firth got to play Mr. Darcy twice!

Laurie, you might like the new version of P & P (just came out on dvd/video last month)...it's just a good romantic comedy...it's not 6 hours long like the mini-series, it has most of the elements of the book, but has a great pace!
