well....I made it through my first day

Postby missykalo » March 19th, 2007, 9:20 pm

It went pretty good, but the grocery store was rough. Check over my journal and see if I did ok.

0730-hot chocolate
1015-shake
1145-snack (2 dill pickles)
1300-shake
1630-5 oz pork w/ 1 1/2 c. broccoli
1900-cream of broccoli soup
2230-mint bar

I read that you're not supposed to have a bar and a snack in the same day - do you think that will mess me up? All things considered, I'm just happy I didn't dig into the pie that was sitting at work all night.

Looks like you did okay Missy. One thing I would say, notwithstanding the snack and bar thing, its actually better to have your bar during the more active part of your day rather than right before bed. Although it is actually suggested for people on the diabetic program to have their bar as the last meal (to help keep their blood sugar levels maintained overnight), for people not on that program, it is suggested to have the bar during the day.
Just a suggestion. Other than that one little thing, It looks like you are totally doing things great.
However, if the bar at night works for you, do what works. ;)

Congrats on a good first day! It gets easier, and then if you mess up it gets harder, But you aren't going to do that so it is smooth sailing for you!

Good for you for getting started! You've got one day under your belt and can take on the rest of program through maintance. You can do this and it is very worthwhile (especially when you see the scale numbers going down and the clothing getting looser! :D) Keep to program, try not to allow yourself to go off program (just because it is often easier to stay compliant than to get started over). You'll do it!!

Hey Missy! We started on the same day, so you and I can keep each other in check eh? :) Grats on getting through it. I had a tough day too cause my stomach was growling I was so hungry sometimes. I made it though, didn't even have a snack. My new Medifast shipment isn't here yet so I have no bars, the boxes I have left over from last time were expired so I can't eat those. :(

Missy, I think the thing about bars and snacks in the same day is not that you can't have a snack, but you should have a lower calorie one like pickles or celery, instead of the MF crackers or soy crisps. That said, if I'm having a rough day or a long day, I'll go ahead and have the higher calorie snack even though I have a bar every day. Just listen to your body and watch the scale to see what will work for you.

Congratulations on day 1 and I hope you're having a great day 2!
