AMEN! It's a shame, but the spam is getting SO BAD and sometimes porn pics get posted! I'd like to see the board be "Read Only" for guests.

I own a forum that I run for childcare/babies and I don't allow any guests to post at all. It keeps the weirdos out.

Why don't we take a vote. All those in favor of guests being allowed read-only access, raise your hand!

Hi Guys,
Think this over a bit. We get MANY newbies that don't know how, or don't want to register on their first post. We'll lose those newbies that aren't able to make their first post.

If we make the forum members only, about half of the spammers will register to post their spam anyway and then there's another chore to remove their registered screenames.

It's up to you, as this is a democratic community, but my vote is to leave it open for guests to post.

I read every post, so the spam does get removed. Occasionally when I actually go back to my life for a while, a spam post can hang around for a couple hours, up to a 1/2/day sometimes.

If the spam bothers you, DONT click on it....:)

:x How dare you have a life when we have this annoying spam to deal with, lol. Actually, I just ignore the spam. It doesn't really bother me and you are so good at getting rid of it that I don't really see a problem.

I agree with you Unca. People who are looking for help may not take the time to register to have their questions answered.....I vote that we just ignore the spam on the chance that we can help someone out there who really needs help.
 Hugs to all.

Hi

#1, I'd like Unca to have a life.
#2 I agree about the newbies. Most of them post a question as a guest and it's only from encouraging from us that they register. Some of them only have a quick question. Yes, the spam is annoying, but I don't click on it and certainly don't respond to it and it falls pretty far down the page fairly quickly.

I guess after that long-winded suff I'd like to vote that guests be allowed to post. We might lose people that REALLY need some help while trying to squash the spammers. They'll always be a step ahead of us!

I vote we let guests continue to post. If we can help just one then in my mind it is worth dealing with the spammers
