3 Weight loss rules/goals

Since I'm off the scale and worried that I might slacken or let things slide, I've been reading the archives here and have made my way through all the newsletters that Nancy has written. (She hasn't written one for a while....I'd LOVE to see her start them up again. If she wrote a book, I'd BUY it!). So anyways, I'm working on some new rules/goals right now to focus on to help in my MF journey.

1. Keep a Food Log. Write down every bite that goes in my mouth. (I've been doing this since March 31, 2006 faithfully. That was the day I GOT SERIOUS and commmitted to MF. And with this rule, plan what I'll eat and EAT ON TIME.

2. Never eat while watching TV or reading. I'm like Pavlov's Dogs in that I've trained myself to eat while doing these two activities. Turn on the tube and my cravings hit....same with reading. This will be HARD to break, but I know it will be an important CHANGE for me. Nancy wrote recently in Zinkette's journal that she made the same rule: no tv eating, while she was losing, so I thought that there was no time like the present and that would be a good goal/rule for me, too!

I originally posted this in my Journal thread, but then I thought I'd post it here too, to see if any others would like to share any rules or goals that are helping in your weight loss journeys. I love to hear them.

3. Whoops, I had to come back and edit this post because I forgot to write the 3rd rule I'm working on: Drink 95 oz. of water, which is about twelve 8 oz. cups, which is according to the formula I read about at this forum to drink about half in oz. what your body weight is.

:shock: That would be 140oz. of water a day....I don't think there are enough hours in the day to be in the bathroom that much!

LOL, Wildtrk! :lol: You'd float away..... :shock: :mrgreen:

I can't remember what they said about how much a person should max-out on with higher weights (100 oz.?)....I only paid enough attention to find out how much I should have.

I drink way more than what I need to, according to that formula. I drink about 16 8-ounce glasses a day.

I'd die if I didn't eat in front of the TV, though. Maybe it's because I'm single and live alone, but the TV is pretty much always on, unless I'm sleeping.

Mine downfall (at least one of a hundred or so) was eating at the computer which also had other detrimental effects. More than once I was left with sticky keys...(unca don't go there..! :shock: )

I don't have television - but I do still eat in front of the computer :oops: . I can say the keys aren't as sticky since I've been on MF...just an occassional lettuce leaf or spice falls into the cracks between keys and either gets shaken out 6 months later or is stuck there for eternity. :|
