Weight loss question...

Postby Blessedmommieof3 » August 9th, 2006, 12:09 pm

It's a bit premature for the to freak, since I'm only in week 2, but the weight doesn't seem to be falling off me as quickly as it has in the beginning weeks for many others.

I lost 6.1 pounds my first week - but I did miss one MF meal the last 2 days of week one and wasn't drinking enough water - wasn't drinking enough of anything for that matter! SO I haven't been perfect - but I haven't cheated and eaten even a bite of anything off plan!

I stepped it up this week and have been drinking more water and have been getting my meals in - with the exception to yesterday - I missed one but I also ate extra veggies - I was super hungry and figured it was better than other things I could've eaten. But I'm only going down about .2/day this week. A loss is a loss, yes - but I didn't expect it to move so slowly - so soon.

I wonder if I'm eating enough - in the past when I've done Weight Watchers and my points range was say 22-27, I'd have to eat at the higher end of the range in order to lose. If I ate the minimum I wouldn't shed a thing.

Any ideas? I've been blogging each & every day so you can click the WWW link below to see exactly what I've been doing. I measure & weigh everything, so I know I'm not going over the allowed amounts.

Well, it is good that you are losing. One thing I would say is not weigh everyday, that way you may see the results all at once at the end of the week.
Another, as some folks on here have said, you may just need to jump start things... change things a bit. Some suggest getting rid of the bar and have another shake instead (I know I wouldn't want to, but thats just a suggestion). Also, perhaps the crisps for lower calories snacks.
It may also be that your body isn't used to the reduction in calories yet, and you may need to have an extra supplement instead. I couldn't say exactly, but sometimes when we reduce the calories so much, initially, after the water weight loss, our bodies hold onto the fat because it thinks it might need it.

Just some things to ponder.
Pre WLS 460
Low after WLS 300
Start of MF 350
Previous MF low 280
Restart MF 330

I have to be careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God's business.

Your body needs time to adjust to this new eating regimen. I wouldn't consider changing anything until after your fourth week to give your body time to get used to the new plan. My doctor told me that if I was losing at least 8 - 20 lbs in a four week time frame then everything was right on track (the MF avg of 2-5 lbs per week x 4 weeks).

You have a lot less weight to lose than most of us. You can't expect to lose 10 pounds a week when you only need to drop about 40-50.
