watered down shakes?

Postby kimberinwa » June 24th, 2006, 4:09 pm

My very first post here... I have been reading and lurking for quite awhile, and the before and after posts just make me bawl. I have a ways to go, but I am motivated and I thank you guys for being so supportive and encouraging. What a neat group of people!

Anyway, my question.... is it ok to mix the shake up with more than just 6-8 oz of water? I assume so, but thought I better check. When I mix up the choc shake with a bunch of ice and a little instant coffee, it makes my world go round, but there's probably 20 oz of liquid. Plus, the vanilla is just waaaay too sweet without diluting it some. Anyone have an opinion?

Welcome Kim! You aren't alone, cause I have lots to go as well. I feel blessed to have found Medifast and this forum. There are so many kind and caring people here who are/were in the same boat as us.

I add more water and ice to my shakes as well. It all comes out to 16 ounces. It just tastes better to me. I am looking forward to seeing your progress!

Hugs,

Keturah

I appreciate the input... I just had a celery stalk with a squirt of dijon mustard on it. My eating habits are certainly changing! :-P

yeah, it's weird how much our taste changes...
at first, i only used 8oz of water in the shakes because they didn't taste like much otherwise. now i use well over 14oz and they are still quite sweet to me. it's actually a great thing.

my favorite food (if one can call it that) is birthday cake. thinking of it now, i cringe because of how disgustingly sweet it sounds. this change in palate may help me reach and maintain my goal as much as anything else.

Try cutting the vanilla shake with 1/2 can of diet root beer sometime. Mmmmm! It tastes almost like a root beer float with ice cream. Very good! It's quickly becoming one of my favorite treats.

I dilute the cold MF Meals drinks A LOT too, especially the teas! I also put too much water in the soups so I have more broth!
