Vanilla RTDs

Postby sidrah » May 6th, 2006, 12:24 am

I am getting some for the ease of summer vacation travel. I see a lot about the chocolate, but not much about vanilla. So, my questions:

1. they seem to be only 40 cents or so more expensive per serving than the others. So, you think they are worth it?

2. Anyone like vanilla or it is really sweet compared to chocolate.

I am trying to bump my order up to $200 for free shipping, so I am going to buy a large order.

THANKS!!!!! ;)

Hi, I love both flavors, Vanilla and Chocolate. I get tired of chocolate all of the time, so it is nice to have vanilla. To me the vanilla tastes like cold vanilla ice cream. I love both of the equally.

I simply cannot stomach the vanilla; however, the chocolate is very yummy and convenient.

I'm with Ark. Love the chocolate, but the vanilla tastes horrible too me. Very strong. Even the smell bothers me.

The one thing I don't like - and this may just be me - is with some of the boxes, I can't seem to drink them without making horribly rude straw-sucking noises. I don't know why that is.

I LOVE the chocolate! I like the vanilla, just not all the time, just for a change.

As for the price difference, it's SO worth it! I buy mine from the tsfl site and there's the case discount, making them $2.24 each. I can TOTALLY do that!

LOVE the chocolate. Hate the vanilla. Well worth the extra cost, IMO. Don't like the new telescoping straw though....1/2 the time they aren't airtight when you pull them out. Have you ever tried to suck on a straw with an air leak? But in spite of that I'll still buy them...at least three of my MF meals every day are chocolate RTD's.

I agree about the straw and that horrible sucking sound! I love the chocolate RTD's but I wish the straw was better....but it won't stop me from buying them :)

ok, girls. Here's how I solved the slurpy straw sound problem. When you insert your straw, make sure you make the hole a bit bigger than the straw to let a little air into the box. Voila! no more slurpy sounds until you get to the bottom and you keep trying to get that very last drop, hehe.

I love, love, love, the chocolate. They are so worth the extra cost because of the convenience. So many times, I don't want to take the time to mix a shake and just go grab an RTD.

As for the vanilla - my philosophical question of the day is: Is vanilla a flavor? I've never understood anyone who would go into an icecream store that has 31 flavors and order vanilla (I'm married to one of those people)! In my humble opinion, vanilla is what you have before you add flavor!

Hey, Jo, thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I personally LIKE vanilla, although it's never my first choice of flavor. But in these, I can't stand it.

And I guess I never answered the other question, but yes, they're definitely worth buying, IMHO. I also get them through this site, with the case discount (and the auto ship discount).

Thanks. I think I am gonna go with chocolate boxes and mix and match with the shake packets. I somehow ended up with 5 boxes of vanilla shakes...

I will just keep them in the fridge. But, when I am home and have time I am going to have the time to flavor up the packets. I like adding lots of ice so that I can keep it cold longer and there is more to it.

I know a juice bo size is tiny, but sometimes (often) I don't have time to have anything and I think this will do the trick.

The chocolate is good but I like the versatility of the vanilla, other flavors seem to mix well with it.

We have so many chocolate items to choose from on MF, but I agree, the chocolate RTD's are much better than the vanilla. Now, if they would just come in strawberry, that would be great! With our vanilla shake powder, as others have mentioned, there is more versatility, as many flavor combos can be added to the vanilla. The vanilla RTD's reminded me of years ago, many, many, many years ago!!, when they had vanilla shakes in a can at the supermarket---yeesh!!!! :?
