Two Questions

I'm trying not to be discouraged. Yesterday I had lost 6 lbs having only been on the program for 5 days. Today I am up 4 lbs! Yesteday was hard to stay on a consistant schedule to do a very busy event filled day. I ate out last night being very careful however I did have diet coke. so two questions: does anyone retain water after having diet soda, could that be part of it and will not having the meals every 2-3 hours possibly cause this?

Diet sodas do contain quite a bit of sodium. So in sensitive people they can cause water retention. I personally very very seldom eat ham because I puff right up!!! :x Not eating often enough can cause your body not to part with the pounds. It thinks you are going to starve it to death. I wouldn't worry toooo much about those four pounds .. just be very very compliant and they'll be gone again soon. Drink lots of water.

Fluctuations are also normal for a lot of us. I can weigh in the morning, then wait 15 minutes and hop back on the scale ... and the difference can be several pounds!

You're just starting out, so maybe now's a good time to divorce yourself from the scale a little bit.

Thank you! I think your right no scale for a while, it plays with my emotions too much, almost makes me lose focus.
