Well I can hardly believe I've hit a new time high of 263.5.
How the heck did I get so fat? Time to get it off. MF does work because it's worked for me in the past. I do well oni the 5/1 plan so that's what I'm doing this time. My first goal is to get under 200. I haven't been there in about 10 years. 150 would be my ultimate goal but for now I'll go one step at a time.
I don't like being fat cause it's hard to bend over, sit in chairs, climb out of the water and into the boat, tie my shoes, where comfortable clothes, keep my knees together when sitting, I'[ll think of more later.
Good luck to all of us.
Trish

Thanks Beth - You sure are doing well on your program - way to go!

I'm feeling optimistic about my program this time. I know it's only been one day but I am down 3 pounds today. Since I found out my thyroid was under working and started taking a synthetic, weight should come off at a better rate than before.
So, I'll be out of town and out of touch with my pc until next week but I will be on program.

Well I'm back from vacation and I stayed 100% on track with my 5/1 plan anf ther scale proves it!
I've been on this program before and this time is different. It might be because I'm losing the weight for reasons other than an upcoming event or the new years resolution. I think for me that this is a great time of year to be on this program.
So far, and thanks be to God, I have not had major hunger pangs - even from day one.
Back in 1989 when I went on MF for the first time and lost the 40 pounds I had to lose, thr first week into it I had a sinus infection. The same thing happened this time and I see that as a sign from God telling me that I will get rid of the 113.5 pounds. He does work in mysterious ways.
I've been on all the diets out there over the years and I was thinking last week that if a magic genie came out of a bottle and told me that MF was the magic cure for obesity and if I followed the plan all the excess weight will come off - wouldn't I jump on the bandwagon and not look back? Well that's what I've done.
I was watching Dr Phil last week and it was about losing weight. There was this one 30ish woman who'd losts 167 pounds. She looked great but they showed her without her clothes on and her skin hung like that of a woman in her 80's. Of course Dr Phil hooked her up with plastic surgeons who were going to help her. In the past I've read threads where people on MF are worried about the possibility of excess skin when they lose a bunch or weight quickly. Fair enough concern. I'm going to be working out and doing all I can physically to keep toned. I do have a lot of abdominal fat and that runs in my family. In decided I'm not going to worry about excess fat but I am going to set aside extra money in case I do want that tummy tuck!
To quote Serendipity. "comfort food is an oxymoron" and "Results ARE typical". Love that.

Hi Triskets!! Congratulations on getting back on the wagon and starting over. You can do it!! Kudos on staying on plan during your vacation. I am already nervous about going to the caribbean for holidays. Guess what scares me? Not food per se, but all the delicious fruits of my childhood...how will I run from 6 different species of mangoes and water coconuts and guanabana (soursop) and tamarind (mixed with brown sugar)???

So I think you have done good!!

I have 100+ to lose and I posted before I signed up about the loose skin. I decided that I have to consider it a minor issue and just focus on overall health. I plan on moisturizing and hydrating my skin like nobody's business. I read somewhere that a lot of folks have loose skin, in part, because they did not drink enough water as the weight came off.

As I begin week 3, I hope to start lifting some light weights and do some strength training in addition to walking. My moisturizer of choice will be coconut oil. It is really awesome for the skin and I like what it does to my skin. As a child that is what my grandma would rub on my skin and I still have velvet skin. So you may want to give it a try and see how you like it. I only use organic coconut oils or lotions. I get mine from a company called Tropical Traditions.

I am rooting for you Triskets! We newbies who need to lose a Benjamin (my euphemism for 100# as in $100 dollar bill) need to stick together while enjoying and giving support with the rest of the forum. Maybe we can be the tribe of Benjamin (yes, I am a nutter and like bible references  ) Good luck on the rest of your MFJourney!!

Trish~Good luck with your weight loss. I also stepped on the scales and wondered how the heck did that happen!! 272.5!!! YIKES!! Ok so I have been living in denial for much too long and now it is time to make changes. The one thing I love so much about this forum is that I do see many people I can relate to-pople who know what it is like to be very overweight-not just a measly 10-15lbs but really overweight and the struggles we face everyday. Like tying my shoes!! Not to mention the places I use babypowder on a hot day! Ugh! So glad to see I am in good company here! I have started a support thread in the weight room and I would love to have you join in you would like. Meanwhile happy losing!

Nat and cyn -

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I like Nat's idea of the "Benjamin club". Sign me up!

Nat - I've been using cocoa butter on my skin because it's good for not getting stretch marks but maybe I'll get some coconut lotion - then I'll smell like a Mounds bar - I just hope I don't make myself hungry! LOL.
Where do you buy Tropical Traditions?

Cyn - I hear you about the tying shoes and baby powder. The summer is murder on us Benjamin's. I'll go look at your support thread.
