I'm Sara. I am new to the forum but not to Medifast. 12 years ago, I lost 65 lbs in 4.5 months--so I'm a believer. I kept that weight off for 8 years, then went through yucky depression from a serious heart break and started putting the wieght back on. I'm ready to do this again. I know that this is the very best, easiest weight loss/feel great plan in the world. I've just been waiting for it to become more uncomfortable to remain in this fat shell I've been in than it is to work my way out.

I started the program yesterday. I have 120 lbs. to lose! When I did the program years ago I had to get the product from my doctor, go for weigh in's weekly and blood tests monthly. It's so cool to be able to do it from home and have a group of friends to go through it with--that's me hoping we'll be friends soon!

I took this as a sign: the day before I was to start the program, I was out in town and saw a Medifast Center! I've never seen or heard of one! Must be a sign that I'm to succeed, don't ya think?

Happy to have found this forum,
Sara :)

Hey there,
Ohh i know that feeling so well. That is exactly where i am right now. About 6 years ago I lsot my father (whom I was very close to) and a boyfriend breakup at the same time and I hti a brick wall and a lot of depression. Since then I have been great but have gained weight and kept it on like a defense mecahnism.

I just satrted 3 days ago and have been trying to use the boards as a motivation but I tell you the first three days are killers. I have caught myself eating some veggies and some meat from the night before to help with hunger but trying to stop that and just eat shakes.

Glad to know that we are i the same situation its easy to keep the weight on to keep up that "they wouldnt want me anyway" defense so I hear you loud and clear and once its gone I am sure we will be mad we let it get this far!

exactly

That was exactly the mentality, although it took me some time to see that. My first thought was, "well, if it didn't work with him, why does it matter. Let's get a pizza!"

Listen, you have to get straight on the shakes. Snacking is going to give you an open mind to other things you might find tasty. I find it easiest, or I did, to not have anything but shakes. I'm one of those people who like the restrictions because if I eat something else, I may not want to stop.

Just get through the first week or so minute by minute, then it's a cakewalk because you feel so good and the weight falls off of you.

Thanks. I hope my past experiences help me. I'm not quite in the euphoria stage yet! Second day is definitely harder than yesterday. It's funny, when I smell food I swear I can taste it. Almost satisfying!

Hi Sara, and welcome back to Medifast! I, too, am a returner. I lost 113 lbs. 15 years ago the same way you did, by going through a doctor, the weekly visits, etc.

This time has been even easier for me as I am ready finally to have this weight off for good. I also have a plan this time to keep it off!

Love your ticker!

Welcome Sara!

I'm a Medifast Re-loser too. Lost all my weight twice before on MF, so I'm a believer too....I've lost 1/3 of my excess weight so far and another 55 to go. My first time I had to buy my product through my past M.D. too.....so I wholeheartedly agree about how nice it is to get it online. I buy mine through my TSFL Health Advisor. Did you know that Medifast has this wonderful FREE service and support for us thru Take Shape for Life? I'm not an H.A., but there are many wonderful ones right here at this forum! My past Dr. was never much help to me, but I know I'll have a better chance of keeping the weight off this time because of the tremendous support here. I remember when I bought my products at my Dr.'s office, there was NEVER a good selection AND they cost more. :|

(TSFL also offers free support calls several times weekly (one is a Dr's call, a nurse's call, and a maintence call.) things have really improved since our first times on MF!

So are you going to do the Full-fast then? I go back and forth from the complete plan to the 5 & 1, and I'm under a new Dr's supervision because it isn't a good idea to do the full fast on your own. There are days when I like to do just shakes and not think about food, and then there are those times when it's really nice to eat a Lean & Green and show myself that I CAN eat food and not go out of control. :)

Welcome and good luck!

Jump4Joy,

I am doing the full fast. I've tried to restart previously doing it with the L&G and I just was not successful. Give me a bit, I'll take a whole. I love the full fast because of the ease--everything for the day is in 5 envelopes--you just need water.

I am going to my MD tomorrow for yearly physical and will tell him what I'm doing. I'm sure he'll run tests and I can pick up another supply of MF from his office. :)

I've never been in a group like this, but everyone here seems so "normal" and great. I'm excited. :)

Sounds good.....I'm excited for you Sara! I spent the last two years trying to do countless restarts with the 5 & 1. I was finally able to get going on the plan by just doing the full fast for a week or so just to make that break from food. I like going back and forth now between the full fast and 5 & 1, but probably do the 5 & 1 most of the time now. The full fast is great in that it simplifies things and you don't have to think about food preparation for yourself. Unfortunately, I still have a family to cook for most nights, and I think that has been my biggest challenge...shopping and cooking for them.

Since you've successfully lost weight on this plan before, your chances of future success are even greater. You've done this before and you can do it again! :D
