Lara, I just wanted to chime in here and give you some support too - you are definitely in the realm of Hardcore Exercise with your bike rides. I think that is awesome, first of all, that you are such an athlete! But you could be right, MF as such a low-calorie diet, might not be right for you. Unless you cut way down on the exercise... I think you had a totally normal reaction at that restaurant to chow down on the chicken nuggets and the french fries, honestly! I'm estimating from your 2,700 calorie number for 50 miles total, you had already hit about 970 calories burned when you feel pray to the nugget madness

A 100 calorie MF shake just wouldn't refuel your body after that, and your body took over your brain. I mean, heck, after I burn 600 calories rowing or whatever (measly compared to your biking burn-a-thon), I go into SERIOUS eat mode! The recommended exercise on MF is moderate, not Bike Warrior Eat-the-Road hehehe!

(Whee!)
I'm not saying this to discourage you, but only to point out that what is happening to you is absolutely normal. You are not a slouch in the weight loss department! You need to either tweak your exercise routine way down, which I don't think you want to do... or eat more calories to fuel your body while you get down and dirty on your bike. Heavy exercise on a low-cal or very low-cal diet will cause stalls, or even gains, because the body will not only slow your metabolism down (starvation mode), but it will also pull water into muscle cells temporarily. There are some good web sites out there that can give you info too on how many calories you do need to eat if you are exercising heavily, yet keep you losing (I will come back with some if you want 'em.)
With your current diet and exercise plan, I would not be surprised if on some, maybe most days, you are in a negative calorie balance. This ain't good! This = Starving = Binge to Recover.
Good luck with whatever way you go!
