Today is going to be very very hard :/

Postby Sarya » May 12th, 2006, 7:29 am

We're having our first cookout of the summer here at work. The ENTIRE building is going to smell like burgers and hot dogs and everywhere you look there's cheeseballs, potato chips, cookies, fruit, meat.. argh!

I know they're trying to be helpful when they ask me if I want a plain burger with some salad, but that burger is a little patty with 26g of fat in it! I think I'd rather have a steak tonight, but my willpower is about to be sorely tested.

I woke up this morning dreaming about an ice cream sundae. I had a huge ice cream sundae in the dream, and I was just about to take a bite before I remembered I was on MF. I woke up before I made the final decision: to eat or not to eat.

ugh.

The latest (whether it is true or not) is that my coworkers are betting on whether or not I'll have a burger. At least this makes me even more determined not to have the burger :D

You're right.. maybe next time I can bring a steak. I had thought about making my L&G at lunch, but I really like having it in the evening because that's when I'm more likely to get bored and try to snack.

You just hang in there and surprise those doubters. I know you can do it and you're right I'd be even more determined not to eat any of the "junk food" too.

Why is it that people take delight when someone "fails" at their diet? Hmmmm, does it make them feel superior?? Are THEY fat and don't like the reminder that something CAN be done about that? But to take BETS???? WELL, YOU will show THEM!!!! I think YOU should get in on the betting so YOU can win that money!!! :) You go girl!!!!

If you do feel you are about to cave, only have a burger NO BUN and it will not throw you out of ketosis. I know you can withstand the pressure though, BE STRONG!! :weightlift: :weightlift:

I'm doing ok still :) My mouth is watering, but my belly is full from my oatmeal. I just keep thinking about the steak I'm going to have for dinner and how much better it will be than the hamburger.

thank you everyone for your support :) I'm doing much better than I thought I would actually.

YAY! I made it through! There is still a huge pile of hamburgers and hot dogs that I have to go by when I go to heat up my soup or get more water, but I think the worst is past me. I have mixed feelings though you know? Because I'm very happy I didn't have anything knowing that it would mess up my diet, but I'm sad I couldn't have a hamburger and a hotdog. Oh well. It's only the first week. I can't expect my attitudes about food to change that quickly.

Good for you. It is so hard. And how mean of your co workers---to take bets. Maybe you should start a pool of your own. Which one of them will get fat first!! I am so proud of you. I don't know if I am that strong. Hamburgers are definitely a weak spot for me.

When you go past that pile of LAST NIGHT'S leftover meat, just think of it as OLD and STALE....no way would it taste very good. YUCK! :eck: I'm proud of you for being strong last night...I know that was hard. Hang tough....I promise you it will get easier the longer you are successfully on plan. Right now I think of myself as on a Sabbatical from food....I'm living off the "fat of the land"...my fat, that is! :D

I bet in your dream, you would have passed on the ice cream. I've had dreams at least three times now where I was about to eat something bad for me but didn't. Last night, I dreamed I put a Krispy Kreme donut in my mouth (and oh boy do I love those), took a bite, then realized what I was doing. In my dream, I spit it out and threw the donut out of the car window. Classy, but hey, even my subconscious is finally getting on board.
