Kristin,

I think that is awesome that your sister is doing this with you. My skinny sister does not like how I am losing weight. Bascially What I say to her is

Sorry about that. My fat sister is so happy for me, mostly because of my improved health and that she is used to seeing me thin!

My sister is really happy that I've lost weight...because she gets all of the clothes that no longer fit me! ;)

katieb920 - I hate to hear that your "skinny" sister can't be happy for you. Maybe she should consider counseling or something... :x I mean, if someone close to you is doing something wonderful for herself (or himself) and you find that you are being negative about it instead of being an encouragement, something ain't right ! I'm finding out all sorts of things about people I once considered close colleagues of mine, and all of them are women ! Once they found out I was on MediFast and that my goal size is a size 6, a couple of them have done everything they can to sabotage my efforts...to no avail, of course. ;) How sad is that ? Are they afraid I'm going to look better than them or something ? Are they scared that the men in our office are going to start looking at ME instead of them ? WHATEVER ! What's really funny is the more they try to lure me off course, the more determined I get that this weight is going to come off !!!! I'm thankful you can look at your sister's attitude for what it is and simply shrug it off. I'M HAPPY FOR YOU and wish you all the success in the world with Medifast. :D God Bless !

Hi Kristin!
I had similar experiences with negativity so I can somewhat identify with your situation. Keep up your positive attitude--your weight loss is all about you, not them! If you take your eyes off your goal, they win. This forum will give you all the support and encouragement you need. We are all here for you! :goteam:

I only have one girlfriend but she did make the comment that if I lost too much weight I would be "competition" for her. Please.

Luckily, my sister is the one who GOT me here! And she's my HA.

My aunt and uncle were concerned, though. They're both very fit, active people who've been concerned about my weight since I was, oh, 7 or 8 years old. Nothing they've suggested has worked for me like this has. (I even lived with them for a time. Very little effect on my weight loss overall.) They just didn't believe this could be healthy in any way. But after about a year -- and almost 100 lbs -- they're totally supportive! I'm "back," and I'm BETTER than I've ever been -- my energy, wit, even my sense of joy. We had a nice visit recently and were able to explain allll about what it is we're doing. They even took some information to share with others and are interested in ordering some of the products as snacks.

Give 'em time; the people in your life may come around yet. And assume positive intent whenever they open their mouths. Recognize their concern as simply that. And, on your part, refuse to take it as criticism even if that's how it comes out. Most folks need a little coaching in how to be caring and encouraging in the area of weightloss. And even MORE people would do well with a little education about this program. There were, in fact, deaths in the '70s when folks went on another program with the name "fast" in it (not Medifast, but another "medically supervised fast"). So, some folks still have a vague recollection that whatever this is, it's not safe.
Here's to our mutual success! :buddies: --Diana

Thanks Krisitn and Diana,

The only advice I have taken is from My doctor. I know my sister is concerned about my health (or is she just concerned that she wont be the skinny one any more) <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_12_12.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D4%252F4_12_12/image.gif"> I am going to schock my sister my father and my best friend from high school. In June. I can not wait.
