Luckily, my sister is the one who GOT me here! And she's my HA.
My aunt and uncle were concerned, though. They're both very fit, active people who've been concerned about my weight since I was, oh, 7 or 8 years old. Nothing they've suggested has worked for me like this has. (I even lived with them for a time. Very little effect on my weight loss overall.) They just didn't believe this could be healthy in any way. But after about a year -- and almost 100 lbs -- they're totally supportive! I'm "back," and I'm BETTER than I've ever been -- my energy, wit, even my sense of joy. We had a nice visit recently and were able to explain allll about what it is we're doing. They even took some information to share with others and are interested in ordering some of the products as snacks.
Give 'em time; the people in your life may come around yet. And assume positive intent whenever they open their mouths. Recognize their concern as simply that. And, on your part, refuse to take it as criticism even if that's how it comes out. Most folks need a little coaching in how to be caring and encouraging in the area of weightloss. And even MORE people would do well with a little education about this program. There were, in fact, deaths in the '70s when folks went on another program with the name "fast" in it (not Medifast, but another "medically supervised fast"). So, some folks still have a vague recollection that whatever this is, it's not safe.
Here's to our mutual success!
