This week sucks!

Postby ascicles » April 12th, 2006, 7:06 am

I weigh daily. I know some people choose to not do this, but I like to track my daily success or failure. Anyway, here is what I've done for the past week and a half.

3/1 - 338.5
3/2 - 338
3/3 - 337.5
3/4 - 336
3/5 - 335.5
3/6 - 335
3/7 - 333.5
3/8 - 331.5

That was last week. Here is this week

3/9 - 331
3/10 - 333.5
3/11 - 332
3/12 - 335

I am doing absolutely nothing different this week, but I have managed to gain 3.5 pounds. I expect to drop at least a few tommorow, but I will still most likely be above the 331.5 level that I was at on Sunday.

I can deal with a plateau...but gaining weight is REALLY annoying.

Might I recommend tracking everything you put in your mouth on fitday dot com? You can add custom foods (the medifast stuff), I did. I am tracking to make sure I don't get too much sodium every day.

Too much will make you retain water and therefore weight. I bet that's what it is since I know you love boullion and crackers...

That's what's weird. I did have a bowl of bouillon yesterday, but I didn't have any crackers. I also used less soy sauce than usual on my mushrooms because I was making it as part of a soup (using a cup of bouillon). I'm just chalking it up to a bad day.

The weird thing is that I stepped on the scale last night (something I never do) with all of my clothes on after eating dinner...and I weighed 335, the same amount I weigh today.

I'm sure it will, I just hate to see things like this when I am so close to my first goal. I was one pound away!!!

If you think it might be because of too much sodium, why don't you try upping the amount of water you drink and have a cup of warm lemon water. Nancy said you can have up to 2 TBLS of lemon juice (the REAL lemon juice). Add it to a cup of warm water and 'try' to enjoy... it doesn't taste too bad, but not the best. Anyway, it is a diuretic, so it should help wash some of that sodium away. Also, you should only do this once in a while (not daily).

I don't really think water is my problem. Most days, I get close to 150oz.

The only thing that I can think of is that my body is reacting to too many mushrooms. Almost every night I have mushrooms and zuchinni, but over the past 3-4 days, I've only had mushrooms because my grocery stores zuchinni selection was horrible (why is it so hard to find good zuchinni????????). They finally got a new (better) shipment yesterday, so I picked some up after dinner last night.

I know what you mean -- I love fresh green beans and half the time they are so limp. Can you have a garden this summer? :bigidea: We are going to plant ours next weekend. As you know, we have a great growing season here in NC. Zucchini is really easy to grow and one plant produces LOTS of zucchini. There's nothing like homegrown veggies! :bib:

Need to re-evaluate!

Postby Ginabobina1969 » April 12th, 2006, 8:00 am

Hey there bud...you need to look at overall weight loss. I have been on this program, no cheats for 8 weeks tomorrow..with a 31 pound loss in that amount of time which is an average of 3.875 pounds a week for me.

You have been on program for a little over 5 weeks I think with a loss of 37 pounds in that time...thats an average of 7.4 pounds a WEEK! :D The scale IS going to flucuate up and down...when it goes up, If you know you have not cheated then you know its water and someone very wise told me in that case you do do NOT count it going up.

Also, a little something I personally noticed with my starts and stops on the scale..when I eat the same thing....for several days in a row...the weight loss slows down..so now, whenever possible I shake things up daily..something different each day(doesn't always happen) but when I am able to do that...it does seem to get the scale moveing.

Step thee away from the scale....your letting it control your moods and it could be damaging to your motivation. Your doing awesome so concentrate on that and the positive things your doing for your body right now.

Keep SHaking!
Hugs,
Gina

Hi agree with Gina...you've done a great job in 5 weeks....don't get discouraged. I also agree to step away from the scale and to mix things up as far as your food choices go.

I stalled out last week with no losses (granted I didn't show a gain like you did) and I was a little down trodden. But I just changed the way I was doing things and it made the scale start to go down.

I am a daily weigher and it is a dangerous game I play. I should put the scale away myself. I am sure you are frustrated and angry but turn that energy into figuring out a way to make MF work FOR YOU! Change can be good sometimes.

Vent here often but stick to the plan!

Ok, things are back to normal today. I've still only lost a half pound this week, but it's a lot better to look at 330.5 than 335.
