I think I would like to start some food......

Postby cindy1958 » January 14th, 2006, 2:42 pm

Hello all!
I am having a terrible time drinking my shakes. I have always has a stomach like IRON!! But, lately I have developed a hypersensitive gag reflex. I think it'e the smell of the shakes.....I guess. Anyway, I thought maybe I should try the other alternate. Right now, I'm on the "complete" program....NO FOOD. I think I should add some food to the program. As you might remember....I've lost 14 pounds as the 1st week ends and another week begins. I need some advice and question if anyone else has had this problem. I did change from Vanilla to Strawberry as well as the Bannana Blitz. Haven't had the Bannana yet but the Strawberry is not bad. The Vanilla is pretty bad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck to all!!!
Cindy

Are you using a straw to drink your shakes? I heard of someone else having trouble with the smell and a straw is what worked for them.

Hi!

I think it makes it easier if they are super cold...put extra ice in them or maybe stick 'em in the freezer (if you are home or able to). Also, a straw works well, as a previous user stated! Good luck.

Well I can tell ya I only drink the chocolate.......and I absolutely use the davinci sugar free syrups.....and I absolutely use a straw......and I absolutely make them in the blender and never ever ever just shake them in the shaker jar. now this may make me a rebel but I absolutely love my shakes.......but only made in the blender and with my syrups and with my straw :D Also........add some food. Do the 5-1 plan and enjoy life AND enjoy losing weight. Statistically speaking, from what I have seen and heard, there is not a drastic difference between the full on program and the 5-1 program. So why not have a meal every day??

Definitely make the shakes cold cold cold.....either with ice in your shaker jar or with ice in the blender. They come out like a thick shake if in the blender with ice :D Look at the lean cuisine and add all kinds of flavorings to the shakes......jazz it up!! And I think the vanilla is absolutely grotesque........but others absolutely love it. You don't have to love everything......find what works for you. I'm going on a year now and I haven't had anything but a chocolate shake since trying them all my first month ;)

If you DO want to stick with the full plan, why not try some of the other supplements, like the soups and chili and cocoa? They're easy to prepare, and not so stinky.

I found that the best way to make the shakes is in a mini-blender with ice. I cut back on the water to 6 oz and use ice to make a smoothie. This makes the shake very cold and smooth. It also adds some bulk to it, which certainly doesn't hurt.

Cindy!

I'm on the full fast. When you are first on the program, the taste of the soy protein is a little strong, but after a short while, it does diminish!

The vanilla shakes are wonderful if you add cinnamon, nutmeg and butter rum or irish cream DaVincia sugar free syrup. I mix it with a lot of ice in my Magic Bullet and it tastes like an egg nog shake!!!! The syrups and spices make a HUGE difference in the vanilla shakes. I even put cinnamon in the chocolate shakes! I also like putting instant decaf coffee in the chocolate (or vanilla). It takes like a mocha shake. I didn't really care for the mf swiss mocha shakes, but I like adding instant decaf to the chocolate!

Does anyone have any good ideas for different spices in the strawberry? I'm not too fond of the strawberry. A little cinnamon was OK, but I need to experiment with the DaVinci syrups. Maybe white chocolate? Mmmmm, that sounds like dinner calling!!!!!!!!
Take care and God Bless,
Judy <><

I often see people say they add instant decaf coffee to things and that sounds really great to me. How much are you making? You are making the coffee and then adding it right?

I just put water in either my shaker jar or Magic Bullet, my MF shake powder, and then add the decaf coffee and shake away! It mixes up really good, and you don't have to make the coffee first! I also LOVE putting in DaVinci SF hazelnut syrup in too! YUM!!!!!!

Cindy,

I'm in week three and have lost 12 lbs so far. The first week I just did the shakes. Week two I added the soups, oatmeal, etc. You will not believe how great the other supplements taste! I don't know if it's because I was already missing real food but they've been a great addition. I look forward to my oatmeal each morning and soup too. I have not seen any difference in the weight loss and the variety keeps me from getting bored.

My two cents,

This is the blender that I picked up at Target: http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/kitchen_appliances/beverage/blenders/51101.html

It's perfect for one shake at a time.

I have that same blender at work. I still love my magic bullet but it is way to loud for work since I share an office and have a conferance room litteraly outside my door.

But it is great for mixing a quick shake and chops the ice preaty well too. I often use it to bring a pre blended "now and later" shake back to life.
