I think i need help...day 2

Postby lifelovinaries » April 10th, 2006, 8:49 am

Oh no, this is day two. Yesterday, being a weekend I was in the house and did fine. Now today at work, I am about to turn inside out with hunger. When I first woke up, I immediately drank a 16 oz. bottle of h20. I had my first shake at 7am. Got to work at 7:30 and was starving by 8. I held out for my oatmeal at 9:30, i have been drinking water like crazy (hey there princess pee a lot!!) trying to keep myself full (already drank 67.5oz and it's not even noon!) but it is not working. I HAVE to save my L&G for dinner but I don't know how these liquids are going to hold me til then (can't have dinner tonite til about 7:30). I only have 1 bar and 2 shakes here with me. Oh what to do, what to do!?!

Did you bring any snack items like SF jello?? or Pickels? You can have 1-2 SF Jello OR 2 pickles or 3 celery sticks in an entire day as snacks....more info is on medifast website.

I read on these boards someone ate like 3-4 SF jello cups a day (if I remember it correctly) during their first 3 days!

I am sure more guys'n'gals will jump in here with more suggestions.

Yikes!
Can you drink boullion at your desk? Bring in Pickles? You're allowed 2 whole dill pickles per day - I cut mine into quarters - somehow they're more satisfying that way :)

I've found that if I have oatmeal as soon as I wake up, it fills me up a lot better than a shake or hot cocoa, etc., and I'm less hungry the rest of the day - it's probably psychological because we drink most of our meals instead of chewing them now, but... the oatmeal worked for me :)

Stick with it - you CAN make it through & reach all of your goals with Medifast!

Your doing great. Try not to think about your hunger. Like RoleModel_Mom said bring a snack to have when you are desprite for food. You can have the MF crackers or sf jello cup, pickles, celery. You choose what is best for your hunger.

Hang in there. YOU CAN DO IT!!

Keep drinking your water.

I agree about the oatmeal, try eating it first thing. I do that before I get to work and so far I have had to remind myself to have a shake after that. Also my health adviser told me to take at least 15 minutes to eat your meal. I put my shakes in my coffee cup and have it at my desk. Im private I dont want people knowing quite yet at work.

Oatmeal is filling, it's not psychological. :)

The first few days are the toughest, but REALLY, just tough it out and the hunger and cravings DO go away! Just another day, you can do it!!!

You'll also learn this as you go along, which is another reason the first few days are hardest. I didn't like oatmeal at first, so I had soup or chili as my first meal. It's not as filling as the oatmeal, but it's definitely more filling than the shakes. I'd go with one of those first thing, plus bring along some snacks and an extra supplement when you go to work, in case you get extra hungry.

Hang in there!!!

Do you have some sugar-free gum you can chew on? That might help a little . . . at least you'll feel like you're chewing on something.

It's okay to space some of your meals 2 hours apart (as long as that doesn't have you finishing up too early in the evening), and that can help keep the hunger at bay. On the days I work, my first three meals are usually 2 hours apart. I find I can go the full three hours without much hunger now that I've been doing the program for almost three months, but for the first month or so, 2 hour-intervals got me through my mornings!

As the others have recommended, do take full advantage of the snacks we're allowed. I think I've now gone through more jars of pickles in the last three months than I had in the previous three years. But the crunch, and the salt - usually that's enough to take care of me until my next meal.

You can do it! The hunger will get better! Your body will get into the routine. Good for you for not falling off the wagon. Keep us updated. :D

Good job for sticking with it and you have got a ton of wonderful suggestions here. Remember, like someone else said, it is only for a couple more days and I know you can do this. Take your meals 2hrs apart if you have to and if you do finish all your meals early it is ok to add another meal during the first few days. Utilize the snacks too I know they were a lifesaver for me the first few days!

Hang in there we are all here for you

The first week was excruciating for me. Do anything you have to do stay compliant. I used extra supplements and extra snacks to get through the beginning rough patch. What I did was to make up my MF meals and then split them in half so I could have something every hour. My body finally got the message ... It wasn't going to get the amt of calories it was used to but it was going to get something on a regular basis. As with most everyone else's experience, I'm very rarely ever hungry now. Believe me, you CAN do this!

I vowed in the beginning when I felt like cheating or things almost became unbearable, I would log on and type something, even if it was just to say Hi. Just to let all of you know, your support and suggestions really pulled me through. Actually, everyone cheering me on brought tears to my eyes. Unfortunately, I didn't have pickles or s/f jello available but I just kept thinking of you guys -literally every 15 minutes I was checking back to see if there were anymore comments. Well the day is finally over, I just finished up my L&G and I DID IT!! I DID IT!!

So i want to thank all of you from the bottom of my "now full stomach"!! Actually from the bottom of my heart.

YAY YOU!!!!
Now you KNOW you can do it, no matter what! :)
Maybe you can pick up some SF jello cups and/or a jar of pickles & keep them at work along with a thing of boullion in case of emergency :)
I'm so glad you made it through today!!!
