I think I am going to blow up !!!!

Postby Tiolazz » April 11th, 2006, 7:12 pm

I am doing great on the diet, having a problem eating every two to three hours however. Not because I am not hungry or because I don't have the time, but because I am really having a problem feeling bloated and gassy....

I am not a burping person, in fact my husband has been laughing at me, because I never burp, but for the life of me, the last 10 days I have felt like Old Faithful... constantly gassy, burping.... it is embarrassing. I sit in an office by myself at work, Thank God, but I need someone to tell me what will help...

it is the weirdest thing I have ever experienced. I am not lactose intollerant, at least if I am , I never knew it, and I am a big dairy fan, always have had at least 3 glasses of milk a day, and a yogurt and cheese, so don't think it is that. I am drinking a ton of water, just can't quite figure this one out.

Any help would be appreciated...

This may sound a bit wonky, but very strong fennel tea might help you with the gas - just boil fennel seeds (easily found in health food stores) for about 15min & drink, or you can purchase fennel tea bags online.
It tastes fairly sweet, a bit like anise or licorice.

You can get a lot more information by doing a google search using fennel & gas :)

I hope you find something to work well for you!

Making your shakes in the blender could be the cause. The blender incorporates a lot of air into the drink and therefore, gas in your belly. I'm guessing you are having a few shakes a day eh?

Actually, only haveing one shake... this is my schedule:

7am - shake mixed up and drank on the way to work
9-10am - oatmeal cookies
12-1pm - soup or chili
3-4pm - bar
6-7pm - lean and green
9-10pm - pudding, (however I have only made it to eat this last on about 5 times over the last 12 days because of the bloating feeling)

So I don't think it is a problem with the blender or the shakes, it just seems like after every meal I am feeling gassy and bloated.

I am wondering if I am having a problem with the soy also... I use to drink soy milk, (silk brand), without any troubles. strange huh?

Terri

Ok this has nothing to do with gas but I was looking at your schedule and noticed that you are only having 5 meals a day.

Just wanted to be sure that you knew it should be 6.

As for the gas problem I wonder if gas-x would help

Hi There,
I too have had a problem being gaseous. I'm wondering if it is because of the soy beans. In any case beano helps. I'd try that.

Well, all the meals/shakes have 3-4 gr of fiber each so maybe that is the gassy problem. The hiccupping? i don't know. Maybe your vigorous shaking is making it too frothy and you're swallowing air?

Thanks everyone for your words of wisdom. I went to the store tonight and bought some beano and also some gasx...

I will take the beano with meals, and the gas x if I have a problem after the meal...

I didn't buy it tonight until after my l/g and again I was bloated and gassy, but took the gas x and it went away...

so maybe by using them both I will be feeling better...

thanks for all your help.... again!!!!!

What would I do without you guys....
