The Where Did You Buy That Thread????

Postby Honey Child » January 18th, 2007, 1:35 pm

Since I'm new here, please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place. :oops: :oops:

I have been reading through the recipes and notice many of you use the Da Vinci Syrups and Better Than Boullion. Where exactly do you buy it? Does it have to be ordered online or are you finding it in local stores?

If you can't find DaVinci near you, you can buy from www DOT syrup2u DOT com
I get mine from TJMaxx, but they have a limited variety.
You can also get SF Torani syrups at many supermarkets and if you have Smart and Final in your neighborhood, they have a big selection.
Don't know about the Better than boullion. We use the beef and chicken stock from costco, and the fast soups.

Honeychild, I get the chicken Better than Boullion at Publix but I notice you are in the N.E., so I would think any nice grocery store has it...you just need a little bit...I use about 1/8 teaspoon in my chix soup everyday...I did NOT like the lobster Better than B at all it was way too salty.

I get Da Vinci at Home Goods (owned by TJ Maxx). Just make sure you get the sugar free one!

I get Da Vinci's through their website (davincigourmet dot com), that way I don't have to worry about not being able to find whatever flavor I'm seeking. Right now, all of their SF syrups are $1 off! Better than Bouillon, I get at my local Raley's supermarket.

Hi, try Stop and Shop in New England, they are comparable to the Publix supermarkets here in Florida.

I get DaVinci either at TJ Maxx or on their Web site (for the less-common flavors, like toasted marshmallow). My regular supermarkets carry most of the Better Than Bouillon (over near the soups; they come in little jars) or again, for some of the harder to find ones, I go online.

I like the lobster. It IS somewhat salty, but a tiny bit goes a long way. The chili one is the one I use the most, though.

To me, most of the flavors taste better and truer than regular bouillon. But like I said, my favorite is the chili. A tiny bit added to the Medifast chili makes it taste MUCH more like real chili to me.

Ooops. Sorry Biki - missed your kwerstion!
As Robin pointed out - the flavors and improved taste make it better, but you can also choose how concentrated you want the bouillon to be (versus the already made-up stuff) by adjusting the amount of water you add. I suppose you can do that to decrease the concentration of regular bouillon, but you can't do it to make it stronger!

For those concerned with their sodium intake, there is also a very good product called Herb-Ox Very Low Sodium Bouillon that is made by Hormel. I use both the chicken and beef flavors - and think they are both good. I'm not sure if this is available in other flavors though...?

Bouillon and the weight of the human head...

In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

Have ya' seen my bikiphoto??
