The big test

Postby DogMa » May 4th, 2006, 4:11 pm

Just wanted to report in ...

After two weeks with no DaVinci syrup and three of total compliance, I've lost the same couple of pounds I would have lost otherwise. And the entire loss was a few days after my last "off-plan meal," which is what always happens.

I think my next test will be adding a supplement every day for the next week to see if THAT makes a difference. If not, I'm going back to my off-plan eating every few weeks, since that seems to work best.

Thanks, guys. I'm nowhere NEAR giving up or anything. I just wanted to try the no-syrup thing, and I wanted to prove - mostly to myself - that being fully compliant does NOT help me lose faster. Like I said, I'll give it another week. But if I don't start losing, I'm going to go back to the one thing that seems to work every time, and that's the occasional off-plan meals.

First I'm trying the extra meal a day, just in case what's actually helping is the extra calories. Plus I've been working so hard on the move, I can probably use an extra supplement every day for a little while. Right now I'm sore and covered with bruises. I look like someone beat me up!

How do you do your off-plan meals, if you don't mind my asking? Is it just one meal or sequential meals? Just curious....

Just one. And usually just extra fat/protein. I very, very rarely have a carb meal, and it never includes sugar (well, once, eight months ago on my birthday when I was also moving halfway across the country). And never because I'm craving something or am eating because of emotions or anything like that. They are planned ahead of time, and after the one meal, I go right back on program.

Although the influx of carbs actually seems to work best, so I think if I DO end up having an off-plan meal, it may be something carby.

I'm not ready yet, though. I'm giving it one more week (but I realized today when I was doing my monthly measurements for mybodycomp that I've only lost 3 pounds in the past MONTH - all of it a few days after I'd had a very carby meal).

That's very interesting to me. I've read about increasing metabolism by upping calorie intake a little. I hope you'll keep us apprized on how it goes for you.

Your weight-loss success and perserverance is inspiring!
