Thanks everyone! Last night I did get to hold and cuddle the little guy for awhile. Little babies are pretty darn wonderful.

I'm feeling a bit growley right now and I'm going to journal about it. :D

Last night when I went to see the new g'baby (at the hospital). I asked to have my photo taken with him (yeah, me asking to have my photo taken is not a normal thing to come out of my mouth! I hate having my picture taken!) I looked at the photos this morning and I look awful! DANG IT!! I still look heavy (well, technically I am still heavy, LOL, so I don't know why I didn't expect to look that way). I feel so much slimmer that I'm surprised daily that people who know me well (my children mainly) haven't noticed that I've lost 33+ pounds. I was dressing to hide my loss for the first 30# or so, but lately I've begun wearing smaller sizes and, I thought, it showed that I had lost a fair amount of weight.

Anyway........I thought that the 'camn damera' would show it, too.

It didn't. :x :(

I guess maybe another 10 or 15 or 20# and it will make a huge difference.

I remember Biki telling me that it took 60# before people really began telling her that it looked like she lost weight so maybe that is going to be my experience, too.

Okay, end of rant. :) I just wanted the camera to show what I was feeling inside (thinner).......maybe in a month or two.........

I hate cameras too, Tawanda. I think my pictures just never meet my expectations. I want to look great........but never do. Then again.....maybe we're both just too hard on ourselves. Maybe you need to take a second look and this time look for some differences. I'm betting you can find some, and then celebrate those differences. I guarantee you look different.

It could have been the angle, the lighting (not flattering in hospitals), a poor photographer. When I post any picture here I typically have my husband take 10-15 for one decent one. Don't be so hard on yourself!

HEY Tawanda, in addition to what Donica said...you got'a remember that the camera has a way of adding a few extra pounds even if you're ALREADY thin..lol! So know that what you see in that pic is NOT true:+)...you may be pleasantly surprised too, to know that it may NOT even take a HUGE amount of weight loss to see what you wanna see when you take that next pic:+)))))

You're doing SUPER!!

Another take on this - when I posted my 30# gone pictures, I saw no differences except in my face and the fit of my jeans (I wore the same pair for both pictures). But people here said they could see big differences. Brian in particular told me that we are often harder on ourselves and can't see what is really there. So show those pictures to someone else, someone who knows your secret, and see what they say.

First of all, Tawanda, congrats on the new baby! Yippee! How exciting for your whole family!

Second, I imagine if you held that photo up against your pre-MF photos, you'd see a difference! I also think that it totally depends on the day and all the other variables that Biki mentioned. There are moments that I look in a mirror or at a pic of me and I think I look fat again, and other moments where I don't recognize myself at all, just see some thin chick. :-) (I like those moments best!) But the truth is that our mind and our body are not in sync during this process, so just trust in the fact that you know you lost the weight, you know you're wearing smaller sizes, and you know what the scale says. Just process that from an intellectual standpoint, and remind yourself repeatedly that your eyes haven't (and may never) fully adjusted to today's reality.

As a side note, I don't know if anyone here experienced this, and I should post it elsewhere, but I lost the weight so quickly that not only has my mind not been in sync, but my equilibrium and sense of balance and spacial awareness were all attacked! I actually went through months of not being able to go down stairs without a railing - to a point of actual panic disorder, like I became paralyzed at the tops of stairs and couldn't move - because I lost the ability to know how much or little I needed to propel myself down, and thought I would fall. This sounds extreme, but the speed and velocity that we lose this weight can cause so many physical and mental adjustments, that you really just have to trust in what you know to be true.

Here's what's true, Tawanda:
1) You have a beautiful new grandson
2) You've lost 33+ pounds on MF!
3) Your family is so self-absorbed in baby land that they didn't see how magnificent and glowing you are from your recent loss!
4) When they do see it, they'll feel really foolish and lavish you with praise and adoration :-)
5) TAWANDA!! (sorry, I loved "Fried Green Tomatoes" and I always liked the battle cry

I really do think we could see the difference. Don't be so hard on yourself, you're doing great. :)

Tawanda - congrats on the new grandbaby. What a wonderful experience. My oldest daughter is due with my first grandchild in July. She is having a boy. I hope my experience is just like yours.

Regarding the pictures - I too hate cameras - why do you think I have never posted a picture of me. On top of that I can't bring myself to post my picture because I don't want people who know me to see me here. Figure that one out - I guess I am just too embarrassed about my weight all the time and feel that if my picture is here - they will find me out.

Isn't that kind of like not shopping at KMart so no one will see you there? If they see you, they must be shopping there too. But I understand that not everyone has the same exhibitionistic tendencies as some others. We would still love to see your picture along with Tawanda's though!
