Katie

Not as thin as Tawanda. My body is just built differently. When I weighed 117 pounds I wore a 6.

Happy New Year.

I just want to say I think you look amazing!

If you decide to accept your body at its current weight I don't think it would be Cheating. There is nothing wrong with reevaluating. It is so hard to know what weight to pick early on.

I had such a hard time setting a goal weight. I finally decided to settle on a slightly higher weight than I originally had in mind, but I didn't have a clue what would be good for me. After I read about all the controversy regarding BMI charts I decided not to use that as a way to gauge. I remembered a weight that I felt only slightly overweight in recent years and deducted 20 lbs! It had been so long since I was a normal weight...and I am no spring chicken anymore (though I feel like it!) so my weight at 30 years old probably is not appropriate at 55. Now that I have made my goal weight I am going to maintain for a few months and get to know this new body. Like I said, no harm in reevaluating down the road.

I know what you mean about not being able to trust your own judgment of yourself. Some days I look in the mirror and think I look great, others I'm just not so sure. Maybe it is just years of trying to convince ourselves that we didn't look THAT bad, now we can’t quite figure out what’s in the mirror!!

I will say that exercise is sure helping to tone…so here I am again encouraging you (and everyone else) to get exercise!

Good luck, I am sure whatever you decide we will see you in maintenance soon!

Geez! you don't give up! 97 pages? whoah!

hehehe....

T....you have a tough choice! Hummmm.....I agree with the whole "since I haven't been 100% compliant then I wont bump up my goal weight" but then I also think, geez BMI in the healthy range? You're fine. :scratchhead: Either way you have made an amazing transformation and should be very proud of yourself.

How do we choose our goals? I just picked my out of the air too. My dietitian supported it because if fell right smack in the middle of the healthy BMI range. However, last month I was watching this diet show on discovery health and this lady who is 5'2" (like me) was 200lbs and lived in Hawaii and loss weight on some medically supervised program and ended up a size 2! At my goal weight I will be a 4 or 5. It got me thinking...maybe my goal should be a size 2. I mean, I have never in my life been smaller than a 5 and so that is why I picked that goal so maybe I need to think outside of the box...hum...can somebody slap me?

Whatever your decision, you will still be healthy so "no worries"!

Have a great 2008!

Well, what the heck, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I raised my goal weight by 5 pounds at the very end. I had started working out, and wanted to work out harder and longer than I thought was prudent on so few calories. So while I still wanted to be a bit smaller, I went off program.

Since then, I haven't lost any more weight but I HAVE shrunk and toned up some. I'm still hoping to go a little lower, but through healthful eating and lots of exercise (which seems to be working pretty well for me lately). But honestly, if I never lost another pound or inch, and stayed just the same forever, I'd be happy with my decision. No one else seems to see the flab that I do, and I suspect that even if I lost 5, 10, or even 20 more pounds, I would STILL see flab.

You can also follow Lizabette's lead and decide to go back on program to lose a little more, if you want, after having lived at this weight for a while.

Hi Tawanda,

Just a quick note to say I can't get over how gorgeous you're looking! One of my Medifast worries is hair loss, but from your avatar, yours is in great shape!
Anway, happy new year, and congratulations on being so close to your goal!

Hello everyone! Thank you for your posts and please forgive me for not replying individually -- hopefully no one is expecting me to 'cause I'll be a disappointment if you do. :|

Weight this a.m. was 146#, I did hit that number once before on Dec. 20th. I do record my weight and food daily, even when I have to write down copious amounts of non-program foods. I guess I should have some pride in that fact.....I've held myself accountable (on paper) for the time that I've been using MF products, even on the days when I've sabotaged myself. That is some thing that I wouldn't have done pre-MF.

Our internet was down yesterday for over 6 hours. I talked to someone in India, who walked me through some tests then said I'd need to have a repairman come out to re-aim the satellite dish and also would need to buy a new modem. I told him I'd have to talk 'to the boss of me' (DH) before making those decisions. I then went into town to run errands, came back about 3 or 4 hours later and voila! Magically my satellite dish is once again aimed at the satellite and the modem works. GRRRR on them for not just admitting that their equipment wasn't functioning well enough to send out a satellite signal. Hopefully, whatever glitch has been happening is now fixed. I hate spending $60 a month on internet service that goes out so frequently--but satellite internet is our only option here, other than very slow dial-up. End of rant.

Yesterday I did not get all of my water drank but today I will be staying home (watching the twins) so will be drinking and hoping for a wonderful weigh in for roll call.

This is the 3rd day of our new year and I've got a pristine and near perfect food journal (only marred by low water consumption yesterday). I am on a roll.......and will be at goal soon.

I hope LOL

Oh! hair loss was mentioned, thank you for the compliment on my hair, but it took a lot of work (and styling product) to make it look that full, LOL. I did have a period of a few weeks where the hair loss was incredible.

Hi Tawanda! Thanks for stopping by my journal and studio thread with your positive comments.

I can totally relate to your mental struggle on picking a goal weight. At 140 and even a few lbs above I am feeling fabulous, but having put on a few lbs over my vacation and holiday I realize that I'm not quite ready to abandon my original goal, at least not the eating part. I believe if I stay on plan a few more weeks, maybe through February, I'll not only hit my original goal but be ready for the proper transition that will help me maintain.

No doubt you'll decide what's right for you and we'll be here to support you.

Your new avatar is lovely by the way!

Tawanda wrote:Donna, I feel for you and admire you for not giving up. I have had the same problem as you, with sticking on program consistently. The problem, for me, began once I started eating little bites of off program foods. I stuck to program 100% for about 8 months and then got cocky or complacent or who knows what was going through my mind "a bite won't hurt".......well, those individual bites became multiple bites, which then became a whole cookie or a serving spoonful of something (coleslaw comes to mind)..... I have hard a very tough time trying to get myself back to staying *100% compliant every day* mindset. I should have been at goal back in September and I'm still working on those last pounds. It is frustrating, embarrassing and maddening to me.

Please do not give up. Please keep reading and begin posting more often as you use to do, months ago. You can do this and you will do this. You've come so far.

I just shake my head at my mistake of taking those first nibbles and bites---I also shake my head at those who feel that they need or deserve to quit the program for special occasions, thinking that they can *easily* get themselves right back onto program --- it usually isn't that easy to stop the off-program bites, once you've begun.

All the above just to let you know you aren't alone.....and I hope you won't get discouraged enough to give up. I refuse to allow my inner brat to rule me and win----which would lead to me gaining my weight back and-ultimately making me feel like a failure.

I am so glad you're still here!

Tawanda, Thanks for stopping by my journal and TOTALLY understanding what I am going through. I'm not going to give up on my weight loss journey, it just may take me longer than I planned.

Looks like your close to goal and I'm so happy for you. You go girl!

Congrats on a good food journal. I have started writing a prayer on my food journal every morning, like "God please help me remain compliant" or "God please help me be healthy" or sometimes just "Help me!"
