Biki, thanks for the note of support.

I've tried so many times to take the weight off in the past 15 years but the desire for food always has won. I was successful in taking off weight only 2x before, both times I lost on a low carb/high protein type of diet (Prism & Atkins). I am a binge eater along with daily consuming too much food & calories. Of course I never binge or eat too much of anything healthy.

My thoughts on just sticking with the variety package, even though I don't love every food item it contains, was because I am a compulsive overeater and because I have, in the past, avoided healthy food so that I could fill up on things that taste especially good. I know there is nothing wrong with eating 'good tasting' food, but my goal is to eat for fuel, not to live to eat. If I can get my mind wrapped around 'this is food so that I can keep my body healthy' instead of 'dang but these bars (or shake or oatmeal or pudding) tastes wonderful and I'm getting to eat it again' I'm hoping changing my mindset will help me in the long run.

I know I'm not explaining it as well as I could. But the idea I'm mulling over is to help me break the cycle of 'food for enjoyment' and turn it into 'food as necessary fuel'. I don't mean that I'm expecting (or wanting) to turn food into an unpleasant experience (and no Medifast food has been 'unpleasant' to eat)---I just mean, for me, eating only things that are especially 'delish' to me-- may not be a good thing in my journey of changing my thought processes. I do not know----I'm truly confused about it right now. Thankfully I still have about 3 weeks of my initial food order so I don't have to decide just yet. I'll keep playing mental tennis with the idea for awhile longer. ;)

I did weigh myself this morning even though I was going to try to make it until Sunday. I was feeling 'thinner' and wanted to see how much I had lost since roll call. Well heck, only down .5 in the past couple of days. I was bummed. Isn't that crazy thinking? Being bummed about losing a 1/4 pound per day? Dumb of me to expect more than that. 1/4# per day is pretty darn great even though it may not be as much as many lose and I'm quite lucky to have found a program that allows me to lose that much in the beginning. I do dread the day that the weigh loss slows down (or plateaus) as I'm so eager to 'look' thinner. I need to do some more thinking on that also so that I'm prepared and not feeling down about it when it happens.

I have spent hours and hours reading the forums and seeing the tickers on people who have lost a lot of weight quickly. I wanted to be one of those that just saw the weight melt off when they are compliant. I pretty much knew that it wouldn't be that way (defeatest attitude? realistic? who knows, I think a bit of both). I am okay with losing 2# a week instead of 5----but 5# a week sure looks good when you calculate it out. ;)

Time to begin the day in earnest. It will be a good one. I will be compliant. I will be proud of myself for starting this and seeing it through to the end without deviation because NO food is going to make me happy, feel fulfilled, content nor proud of myself --- if it is to be, it is up to me!

Tawanda, I don't know any women who lose 5 pounds a week consistently. The men often do, but we women lose slower. I averaged 2.5/week overall, but do not consider that slow at all. It was steady and rewarding the whole way.

I would love to lose 5# a week, also. My goal is to lose 2# per week or 8# per month. I think that is realistic for MF.

Tawanda, it sounds like you are doing really well. Congratulations and keep shakin. <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/5/5_1_120.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D5%252F5_1_120/image.gif">

Day 13 is coming to a close soon. I just finished my L & G within the last hour and only one more supplement to have before bed. It has been a good day (a compliant one) although I am still having frequent times throughout the day when I want to eat. I'm not hungry per se, I just want to consume food. It was my all day long 'hobby' and I'm feeling a little bit lost without being able to continue to do it.

I'm thankful that I do have so many days of compliance behind me as it makes it so much more difficult to even consider going off program. But that hasn't stopped the desire to eat all day long. I have been chewing SF gum and drinking more water when those times happen. So far it has worked.

Tawanda~ I was an all day long eater also. I would eat constantly at school.......and as soon as I got home I would raid the pantry (when I say raid, I mean I would eat everything I could until I felt sick)......then would eat supper and then have an evening snack. So far on MF I have only found it hard when I am laying around the house doing nothing. Also, when I am home alone, I tend to wander to the kitchen. I've been doing a great deal of soul searching as to why I ate all day long. I haven't really come up with one answer......I think there are probably many answers.

We will probably always struggle with foody thoughts. I imagine it is something we will always have to deal with. I guess we just have to make the decision to be in control of the foods we eat. For years food has controlled me....it's my turn now.

You're doing great!

Donica, yep, eating all day long and I only stopped when I ran out of food (never happened), the guilt got to me enough (happened often) or I felt ill from being so full (also happened often). I found that I was using food as my cocoon against the world and I'm learning to participate in life again, instead of trying to hide from it. Or at least that is what my thoughts are 'today' about it. ;)

Thanks for sharing, with me, how it was for you, too.

As of this morning I'm down 8# on day 14! I'm very pleased with that amount (of course :D ). I actually did lose 2# in the 3 days before getting the food as I used Slim-Fast for a few meals while pumped and waiting for the MF to arrive. So, I'm down 10# since ordering but I didn't use the ticker I made with the higher weight as it wasn't 'MF' loss unless I get to count 'order anticipation' as part of my MF time. ;)

I won't adjust my 'ticker' until Sunday morning's weigh in for roll call but I just had to weigh myself on day 14.

Commando Medifast! :D

Tawanda - great job on the loss. I actually was finding myself mourning the loss of food. I am hoping that won't be the case this weekend as last weekend was terrible. I felt like I had lost a friend of mine - it was strange. I too ate all the time - I was not a bulk eater I just ate frequently. Hopefully we can change our bad habits and move onto healthy ones. Again congrats!!!! :D

That's about my goal too. A little more would be great. In the past two months I have lost an average of 2.22 pounds a week. In the past month, 2.5. A little more compliance has helped those numbers but not that drastically. For the past two weeks, I have an average loss of 3 pounds a week. So I guess it does add up. The more compliant I am, the more weight I lose. Rocket science!!!

Well, so much for keeping my resolve on not adjusting my weight loss ticker until roll call! :D When I stepped on the scale this morning and it showed another pound gone (whoo-hoo!) I just had to put in the new number so that I could enjoy it for 24 hours. I don't know that I'll get to keep the loss until tomorrow -- the darn fickle scale!-- but for the next 24 hours at least, I'm basking in seeing 9# down!

I'm fighting with DH's computer on installing his new anti-virus (Norton) :x . I've been working on it for almost 2 hours and the darn thing will not download completely. :x :x Sometimes I'd just love to toss these machines off of a 10 story building! ;)

I'm all better now.
