Thank you Skye!

I just got home a few minutes ago from the hospital. Mom looks better and is feeling a bit better. Still having the same symptoms/problems but they have lessened a bit in severity with the medications they have her taking. Big sign on the doorway that medical personnel need to be masked, gloved and gowned while in her room. Gee, do you think she needed to be there? :? She did say 'thank you, you saved my life by bringing me here'. Wow!

My weight on the doctor's scale, dressed in jeans, shirt, sweater (no shoes) and having consumed a bottle of water --- 148.3#! I received kudos from the doctor on keeping my weight off (saw him last in mid Sept) and my blood pressure being so good (132/62) . I promised that when I returned again in Sept. that I would be reporting that I was exercising 4 or 5 days a week. Gulp! I planned on doing it anyway, but this just makes it a bit more necessary to follow through. I made the promise on purpose so that I would follow through and feel great guilt if I didn't begin soon. ;)

I'm still having trouble getting the site to load and also to be able to post. Slow and frustrating......but I appreciate that Unca is working on solving the problem.

If I cannot post elsewhere (if this posts)---I'll just send my "Hello" to everyone and my apologies for not visiting all the threads or journals.

Hey T,

I'm glad to hear that your mom is doing some better. What would she do without you?

Wow - 148.3 fully clothed and with water (yay for drinking the water!)!!! You are skinny :)

Hope you have a great evening.

Oh T, what an accomplishment at the drs office. Now you have something to work towards with the whole exercise thing right?

I'm glad your momma is feeling a bit better. Hopefully those docs will figure out what's going on and fix it.

Hope you have a great day! (oh, and I've been having trouble with the site too, not sure what's up-sorta figured it was prob just my computer??)

So sorry to hear about your Mom.

I know how difficult it can be to deal with a parents illness. My Mom had a heart attack a few years ago (at my house!) but was in complete denial, but that is so common. She kept saying she had indigestion or food poisoning. I just called 911 rather than debate. She nearly died and I ended up living with her for nearly 3 months afterward. But she did similar things as your Mom in the hospital, like downplay her pain. I don't get it, but being who I am I just stepped in and had a talk with the doctors and nurses. They said this behavior is very common for older women, they either don't want to bother anyone or it is just denial. I think another thing is that she was just used to having someone else always make decisions and basically tell her what to do. I figure she isn't going to change at 80! I didn't want to be disrespectful, but I wanted to be sure she was getting the proper care.

I hope your Mom is doing better and that you find a way to deal with her that preserves your relationship with her...and preserves your sanity. It can be a tough balancing act, at least it was for me. Mother/daughter relationships can be so complex even under the best of situations!

Arugh! Between my ISP's problems/outages and the site slowness here, I feel cut off from the outside world. :?

Mom is still in the hospital, Doctor told her he'd see her in the morning, so there at least one more day. Thanks for the kind words, she should be okay once they get everything under control for her.

I've been in limbo land it feels like. Just sitting around, not feeling like doing anything and stuck near the phone. Elbow bending (eating) happening a bit too much (a bit?) so working on that today. Weight okay, but it won't stay that way if I continue the bend that elbow.......shoveling food in my face.

Stress......ain't it a good excuse?

No, it is not. Food never solved any problem I've had......wish I'd remember that truth.

I tried to respond on some other threads, not sure if my responses went through as I got error messages. I did check one spot and see that inspite of the error message my note went through, but in another spot it did not. I gave up, tried to post and just ignored the error messages. Figured it was hit or miss and I refuse to stress over it .....

So, roll the dice and see if this will post. I'm not going to refresh or anything----if it posts great and if it doesn't that is fine, too (it isn't like I wrote anything important, LOL).

Hope all are doing well! Happy Easter!

Sorry you are feeling stressed. You are right that food never solved anything...but in my opinion there is something to be said for comfort foods during times of stress. They call them comfort foods for a reason! Maybe you can find a way to modify your favorite comfort food and just sit down and enjoy it. For me it was always meat loaf, so I modified the recipe a little (meaning I took out the sausage!) and I have it with a nice salad and some blueberries for dessert.

How are you doing on tranistion? When I started adding foods back in I was surprised that many of them weren't as great as I remembered! The fruit was nice though! But now I'm back on 5/1 for awhile.

Take care of yourself.

Weight at goal this morning. :) I'm sticking with 5-1 for a few more weeks and working towards being 100% compliant during that time  :? . Then will do transition.

Mom is still in the hospital, waiting to hear if today is the day that she'll be released.

Family gathering here tomorrow, lots to do today!

Happy Easter everyone!

Sorry Tee  I assumed when you changed your goal weight that you were going in to transition. Guess the medallion confused me.

Hope you get good news about your Mom today!

Mickey, my apologies to you and to anyone else who is confused by me. :) I'm confused too. I am at goal. 147# will stay my goal, but I do want to stick with the 5-1 for a couple weeks before heading into transition. Can't explain it, don't really understand myself 100% either.....but it seems best to me.

Mom is still waiting for the doctor to come for morning rounds to let her know if she is staying longer. Her BP is 200/116 this morning -- they began her on BP meds this week, but they aren't knocking the high BP down. Concerning.

T, with everything going on with your mom right now, it makes sense to stick with the 5/1. Transition can be stressful, and it requires more planning and preparation. So if it's easier to stay with the familiar, go for it. (And btw, sorry about your mom but I'm glad it sounds like things are improving. I tried to post something here a few days ago, but couldn't.)

Hey T - just catching up on your life. I am sorry to hear about the issues with your mom, but glad that she is in capable hands. You are a good daughter - even if she doesn't have it in her to tell you so.

Congrats on that lovely maintaining medallion - it looks great on you! What an inspiration you are to me.

Thanks for your story and your suppport.

Hello!

No idea of my weight from yesterday nor this morning. Life has been busy, we brought mom home (to her home) yesterday. We then had our children, their spouses and their children over for a dinner later in the day. It was a bit of a busy/hectic day but glad that mom is feeling better. I'll go to her house and see if she needs any groceries and also help her with her medication instructions (steriod dosage tapering instructions). This morning I woke at 3:20 and just couldn't fall back to sleep so got out of bed and began my day (thus no weighing, didn't want to wake DH by turning on lights).

My internet connection has improved.....hope that continues. :)

See everyone later.

That is great news that your Mom is home. Hopefully things will go along well for her now.

Sounds like you had a nice Easter with your family. We had a very quiet day, no family, which was odd since we are both from large families, but it is just the way it worked out this year.

This morning I'm wearing my pedometer and already have 229 steps recorded. I'm curious as to how much actual walking I do in my day so this is going to be interesting to me. I stayed home yesterday doing some spring cleaning so today will be errand running for us and mom, then going to mom's house to help her with getting her medications written down on her calendar to help her keep them straight. She has some confusing steriod instructions so she's asked me to write it down on a calendar to make it easier to keep track of # and dosages of the meds.

Well, guess that is it from here this morning......
