T -

1) Your weight: Your pattern sounds very much like maintenance to me. Up a few pounds, get yourself in hand and drop back down. Then slip and go up a few pounds, then stop the damage and drop back down. I know you want to hit your initial goal, but what about deciding to just WAIT a bit on that? Maintain for, say, a month or three months or whatever, without even TRYING to lose, and then go back and finish? It sure seems like you're dealing with enough pressure right now, without putting more on yourself.

2) I'm SO sorry about all the stuff with your mom, but I can also relate completely. After my dad died, my mom suffered a permanent injury (compression fracture in her back because of osteoporosis). Then just as she was finally improving somewhat, the Northridge earthquake hit (she lived in Northridge). She had the back issue, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol issues ... and then she lost most of the contents of her house and several of her friends, who had to move out of their homes and away from the area. She gave up. I spent pretty much every weekend with her, because I lived the closest (about an hour and a half away).

One morning when I was at her house, I woke up and found her just sitting in a chair not doing anything. She told me she thought she'd had a heart attack during the night, but didn't want to "bother" me by waking me up. She said she didn't call 911 because "so what if I died." I was so angry and frustrated that I DID give her an ultimatum - I told her I was going home and that I didn't want to talk to her until she'd called the doctor. I packed my stuff right then and left, and called her when I got home just to tell her I'd arrived safely, but refused to talk to her any further because she still hadn't called anyone. This was Sunday morning. On Monday, she went to the doctor. (Unfortunately, she died a few days later, so it didn't really help.)

Aaaaaanyway, I totally understand what you're going through. And you know your mom better, of course. But maybe she didn't tell them about the bleeding because she was stressed about the long-distance call, or she had so many symptoms she left one out, or she didn't want to give them a whole long list of symptoms (that would have been my mom; wouldn't want to bother them with too many things at once)? When you take her to the doctor, do you usually go in with her, or does she go by herself? Either way, maybe you could make a little list of her symptoms/concerns for her (or, to encourage her to be more proactive, just help her make her own list), to help her remember. It's common for people to get anxious during a doctor's visit and to forget to mention things, or to worry about taking up too much of the doctor's time or something. There's no guarantee a list would help, but it might. She could even just give it to the doc or nurse.

Take care. And don't EVER worry about posting your struggles. (And when you're overburdened, you also shouldn't worry about supporting everyone ELSE all the time! Sometimes we all take more than we give here, and sometimes we give more than we take. I think you're giving support and help and encouragement to others even when you're just posting about your own struggles.)

Robin - thank you.

I spoke to mom about 90 minutes ago....she says she is feeling better. I hope that is true and will check in with her again a bit later today.

I have raised my goal weight. I don't feel 100% proud of raising it, but I do feel quite a bit of relief once I made the decision and changed my ticker. This is part of what I wrote to someone who has supported me a lot during my MF time:
*****
I finally, this morning, raised my goal
weight to 147 which is pretty much the weight that
I've sat at since mid September '07. I feel like I am
giving up but need to change that thought to I'm being
realistic at this point. This is the weight that I've
been able to maintain for almost 7 months and it is
within the range of a healthy BMI for my height.....I
feel good at this weight, look okay (LOL) at this
weight and I can maintain it somewhat easily.....
******

So, this morning my weight was 148, thankfully going back down and my rings are still tight so I know I am still retaining water from my food choices on Friday night & Saturday.

I do appreciate all of you who have encouraged me during these last 13 months! Thank you so very much for your patience, encouragement and support while I battled the goal weight dilemma. I have to admit that I was just as sick of reading about it as many of you must have been. Being inside my head isn't fun as often as it should be. 8) ;) :roflmao:

Look at it this way.... By raising your goal weight just slightly, every time you loose a pound your exceeding your goals and that will give you an even better boost!

I think if you feel good and within your range that your body is telling you its suppose to be at the weight you are especially since you have maintained that weight for so long. Good for you and congrats on getting to your new goal!

Mazel tov, Miss T! Now that you've loosened the reigns ever so slightly on the "beating myself up brigade," perhaps you'll have less frustration with the whole experience! I hope so! You've done amazing, you look amazing, you've been an amazing support, and now you can live an amazing life! I am pretty confident that this is a good choice for you, and this is not Black or White, you can always ebb and flow as your body "speaks" to you. You know?

Anyway, congrats, I'm thinking of you, and here for you with any help on the transition/maintenance side of things.

Cheers,

Lauren

Making the babies some lunch (chicken nuggets) so have to make this short......they are having a meltdown (x2) in having to wait for the oven to heat up, baking time and 'cooling off enough to eat' time. I thought I started the process before melt-down time was imminent, apparently I did not time it well enough.

Weight: Compliant and the scale is showing it. :) Still haven't gotten all of my gain off.....but hoping to report a 'nice' number for roll call.

Well, nuggets are in the 'fridge cooling off so better get the high chairs out and bibs on the little ones.
