HA! We should all light candles in the bathroom and think of T every time we tinkle until she hits goal, hehe.

I don't know that I believe it....'most people'? I somehow doubt that most people give up at the one yard line, but that does seem to be what I've done. I have to shake my head at my choices and decision---what in the world have I been doing to myself?! Ridiculous to work this long and hard just to begin tossing away my determination to succeed, when I am toeing the finish line.

Stalling or quiting short of our goals is very common.
When we have a long way to get to a goal, there's much more motivation to achieve that goal. The closer we approach it, the less urgency there is to reach it. We can become complacent with a "good enough" attitude.

That's why it's better not to aim at a certain finish line. Set your goal beyond your desired result. That's not to say if you want to lose 50 pounds, set your goal at 75. Rather, set your overall goal at achieving and maintaining good health. That will include your weight loss goal, and keep you striving to keep your weight at a healthy level while still having a bigger picture to keep you motivated.

Great advice Unca!! I always tell potential clients that TSFL isn't really about losing weight and I always get a shocked look. I go on to say that what it is about is getting healthy and learning a healthy lifestyle --- losing weight is just a really cool side effect.

Keep up the good work T! You are soooooo close and you LOOK AMAZING!!
Thanks for stopping by my place to congratulate me on my success recently - hearing from you made my day!

T~ So good to hear from you. I know I haven't been around in a while, but one thing I do know is that you have been consistent and persistent through your journey. You know what you want so don't sell yourself short. You haven't come all this way to stop at 5# until goal. I know that is easy for me to say, but you are a proven person and I know you can do it.

I think getting back to what you know works for you is exactly what you need to do.

I'm rootin for ya! :cleader:

Hi T

I really admire you for you stick to it attitude. You already look so darn great that I don't know how you hang in there for that last 5 lbs. But you know what is best for you and what will make you feel like you have reached your goal.

I think you are right, getting your focus back to doing what works is a great idea. You are so close, you can do it.

I'm with ya 100%.

Oh heavens! I've had the wrong focus and just now realized it with reading Unca's post. I think Mickey tried to get this across to me, too....along with others. Dang, I was so focused on the number and forgot to look at the bigger picture of improved health and fitness. I did give up when I got to 'good enough' in the way of looks and clothing size. I missed (until now) what my true focus should be with a healthy 'number' being secondary.

I still wish to get to my original goal (140#) but I will put that secondary to continuing to improve my fitness and health.

Thank you everyone for your input....I've got some more thinking to do to switch my thoughts (and actions) around.

Today has been a good day.....not an easy day......but 100% on program with 66 oz. of water consumed so far and another 33 oz. sitting beside me. :) I have a lot of thoughts of eating...but it is just head hunger and not true hunger. I'll get through it. Funny that I had recently threw away 4 days of 100% compliance when I became upset over stuff that wasn't really important nor impacting my life directly....

WAY TO GO, T, on the water for today! I hope I screamed that loud enough :) 66 oz down already is great! I thought Unca's post was right on time, too. It's really easy to get satisfied with being a smaller size versus trying to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. I want to be more like Robin and her "one and done" attitude. I can't expect not to give into temptation at some point but it would be a lot easier if I could jump right back on the saddle once I give in.

You are going to reach both of your goals - healthy lifestyle and that pesky number. Thanks for all of your encouragement :)

I so know what you're going through...I was SO focused on the number, then I started suffering from Good Enough Syndrome and I lost sight of the prize........the fact that I got my health and vitality back!

This is a journey! Getting there is part of the journey, changing our lives for the better and LIVING our lives OUT LOUD and loving it...that's the goal! So, you ROCK in that department!

Hello and Happy Valentines Day!

Babies are down for a nap so I have a short bit of time to myself. I have chicken baking in the oven so will have that ready for the next couple of days for my Lean & Green meals.

Yesterday was 100% on program. Not one bite, nibble or drink that wasn't program compliant (YES!). 100+ oz of water drank (and yes, I did laugh and think of you guys often throughout the day).

I hope all are enjoying a nice day.....

Congrats on a fab day!

It's funny, cause I'm the opposite of what everyone else said. I quit five pounds before goal (or I prefer to think of it as just revising my goal) because I DID want to emphasize health over size. And for me that meant doing a lot of hard exercise, which I just couldn't do on less than 1,000 calories (I know some folks here DO work out hard while on program, but I don't know how they manage it).

So I may still weigh a few pounds more than my ideal, but I'm far fitter and healthier than I was when I moved to maintenance.
