Swimwear shopping---UGH

Postby supermom » April 20th, 2006, 12:54 pm

Okay. I went to the lands end page today to look at swimwear. Just a moment ago, actually. Anyway, they have this virtual model where you can put in your own measurements and such and "try on" the swimwear before you buy it. I estimated on my weight, but I don't expect my height to be changing. You see, I feel like I will need a new swimsuit this summer before lake season is over and I know they will all be sold out when that time comes, so I was going to buy ahead. I estimated my weight at 160#, and the stupid thing told me they can't make a model to those specifications. I could not get it to make a model for my height 5'4" until I put in 145#. Now that is a load of sh@t. Whay do they do that?? They sell plus size swimwear, so why can't you make a plus size model?? I am really miffed over this. Anyone have anywhere I might be able to buy nice seperates (not really bikini, just tankini. My top is always bigger than my bottom)?? Rest assured I won't be buying from them!! I don't want to spend big $$$ either. Thanks for letting me vent. :x :x

Oh my!!!!!!! I can't believe they're that stupid!
Try a site called FITME dot com - you can enter your measurements & it will create a free profile and tell you what size you'll be in based on those measurement - for hundreds of different designers/stores.
I know it's not exactly the same as guestimating your weight, but it might be useful...
I hope you find something you like!

Hi Supermom,

Go to glamour dot com and they have a virtual model there where you can put in your statistics and try on swim suits. I thought that is pretty cool.

In that site go to the Dos and Donts tab and you can find a link to the virtual model.

Good Luck.
Soni

Lanebryant cataloge (different than the store) has swim suites that you can purchase the top and bottom seperately. I had to do that last year.

They don't have the nice virtual model feature though.

Hope that helps.
