Join our weekly (Sunday) weigh in.

Postby doglover » February 20th, 2005, 11:45 am

This is my first time too in roll call and since I have been so erratic about weighing I am going to just report that I am 9.5 lbs down in my 13 days on MF! I am happy w/ that result and right now in the throws of PMS so thinking I may be retaining weight! I am going to try to hold off weighing again until next Sun. as I need to develop a different relationship with my scale! :?

Congrats to everyone. We're all doing so well! I am happy to be a part of this family!

Woweeeee, this thread is looking awesome!!! Mucho congrats on your losses everyone.

Berkshirefirl, it's a real statement to be able to hold steady like you have while on "break". Just think, if you can do that without MF how awesome you will do when your products arrive.

Julia, you are almost exactly halfway to goal, that is so awesome. After next week, you will have lost more than you still have to loose. How cool is that?

Junglejane, you and I had a similar Sunday morning it sounds like. I made a huge batch of french toast, sausage and eggs for the kiddies. They are all old enough to make it themselves, but they always say mom's is better and since I haven't cooked much the last 3 weeks and they have been so incredibly supportive and helpful to me since I started MF, this was my way of thanking them. So I cooked up a bowl of oatmeal that I munched on while I was cooking for them and now they are enjoying their breakfast while I read about everyone's succeses here.

This week I lost 5.5 pounds, for a total lost of 18 pounds. I'm just thrilled. Looks like I have a very good chance of making 20 pounds in a month, woohoo!

Have a wonderful week everyone........happy and healthy shaking

This is my first time at roll call. I started Feb. 9th and this is my 12th day. As of this morning I am down 6 lbs. My start weight was an awful 177 (12 lbs. of that was just from the holidays...shame, shame). The first week I lost 5.5 and this week so far I've stayed the same (actually up .4 down .4 up .4 down .4) the scale has been playing seesaw. I have been 100% faithful so I'll just wait it out. Maybe I'll go for a short little walk.....Blessings, Donna

Going Downnnnnnnnn

Postby Judy » February 20th, 2005, 3:03 pm

Congrats to the losers.. I'm so proud to be a part of this team :yippee:
After a small loss last week, I've made up for it this week down 7lbs for a grand total of 38 lbs. since Jan. 1st. We went camping this week-end, it was a little cold. The first night was like 18 degrees burrrr, that was bad when I'm already cold all the time. The thing about camping with us is..... we eat...eat and then eat somemore. But if you don't buy and bring it then you don't eat it. I just had shakes and MF soups and went for a couple of walks and knitted of course and cut out a quilt. I kept my mind off those 2 four letter words...junk food. What do know I survived without it. Everyone have a great week !! See ya all lighter next week !

You guys are such an inspiration!Image

Well, It's offically 1 month and I've lost a total of 20.72 lbs!!!!
Image

I had actually lost a bit more, another pound, but we had a meeting on Friday, and I splurged on a ceasar salad  .
Yesterday, my husband and I went to Yum Cha to celebrate our first month. We only had the steamed dumplings, which were divine.I had actually reached my first goal on Friday morning (before the ceasar   ) of 22.? lbs, which is 20kgs. Anyway, I'll get back there.
So 2.8lbs for the week!
i have been absolutely craving carbs this week too, which has been hard. What do you guys do when this happens to you?
Cheers,
Gabby

Congrads on your 20 pound loss Gabby, it is a REALLY BIG deal! The thing Ive been doing about craving carbs (besides cheating real bad last wednesday) is having something either a MF shake or a fast soup. I have been craving something fried crunchy and starchy for 2 days! I want a burger so bad! I am trying to remember what everyone says. That the burger will still be there after I lose the weight...in moderation of course. I KNOW ITS HARD. I have been having a hard time yesterday and today because I am home everyother weekend and that is usually when I cook for everyone and we eat and be merry...For us food is family time, funtime. I don't know what we will do for fun next time we go camping? Kidding - I just won't buy the junk. It is really missed though. I'm realizing how addicted I am to food and I do miss it to be very honest despite the great taste of the MF products. When I am about to cheat I try to drink a glass of water or go look at the picture when I was 260 pounds. I just keep thinking where I'd be if I had never quit in November after a couple weeks to motivate myself to keep going. I also try to think about how I'll feel bad if I cheat and probably cry and feel mad at myself for 1-3 days until I start losing again. Just try your best and always have a MF if you feel like you are gonna cheat and then rethink it :D

Vicki thanks so much for the encouragement, I plan to set a new goal when I reach this one of course!

Congradulations on your loss of almost 20, you can do it by the end of this month and probably by next week! I don't know if I could have cooked all that and then walked away. I'm sure your kids are proud of you! Think how good you'll all look this summer (especially you!)

One of the things the Success in a Shaker Jar book (required reading! Buy it and memorize it!) suggests when you get "munchies" and absolutely CANNOT not eat SOMEthing that isn't MF is to choose something high in protein, avoiding fat and carbs.

I've been nearly 100 percent compliant to date, but this morning with eggs and sausage cooking for one of the many teens/twenties who flow in and out of this house on weekends, I really, really wanted something more than the MF oatmeal that I had for breakfast myself. So I broke down and ate a hardboiled egg.

You don't want to do the carbs, because that can throw you out of ketosis. If you need chewing/crunching and some carbs, grab the MF crackers and chow down on (one packet a day!) of those -- they help a lot too.

Good luck.

JuliaMejia -

You've been getting a lot of positive support - like most of us have been. I have a bit of tough love to pass your way - if you want to be skinny, you have to think like a skinny person. Obsessing about what you can't eat - or can eat in moderation when you get to goal is not how thin people think. Food is secondary to them. Our problem is that food has been a first priority that's why we're on the MF train to Thinsville.

Don't allow yourself to think about eating food. When your brain goes there (like mine does) switch tracks and think about something else. Reading books, taking deep breaths, drinking more water, taking a bubble bath help me to get past the urges and helps get my mind off the food.
All the food you love will be there when you are at goal. But to stay at goal do you really think you'll want that yucky food? I doubt it.
I think one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects to keeping the weight off is to CHANGE your mind set and relationship with food. And that's a journey we need to be on along with staying on our MF plans.
We CAN do it - We just gotta "GET IT DONE" Right?
The best to you this week.

Dear JuliaMejia and 24 karat,
thanks for your support and ideas. I am actually on a slightly diiferent paln to you guys. There is no excellent support group like this one for optifast - which I am on, so I joined you're group as the principles are the same. However, all I eat each day is:
breakfast: shake and fat blaster tablet
lunch: shake, fat blaster tablet and 1/2 cup of green salad
dinner: tiny piece of lean protein and 1/2 cup of low GI vegies and for a treat after dinner, 1 tiny no fat, no sugar yogurt.
Ideally, I should be having another shake or soup for dinner, but we (my husband too) were going mad with no real food at all.
So because of the dinner, I don't think I am in ketosis anymore. The weight is still going , slowly, but some days at about 3pm - 4pm, I might have 3 corn biscuits ( like very thin rice cakes) with a scraping of vegimite, and then feel guilty.
It sounds like you're eating plan has many good options and you're able to make choices.
One thing that makes it easier for us is that there are only 2 of us, we are both on the same "lifestyle change" and don't have to deal with food around us much. I don't know how i'd go with sausages and eggs in my face, especially if I had to cook them.
The girls at work are luckily all on diets too, but still bring in b-b-q chooks etc. I can see Easter will be a challenge too. At this meeting last week, at a restuarant, they were serving free coffe and huge slabs of devine looking cakes. I sat there surrounded by white choclate mud cakes, black forest cakes etc etc and took the moral high ground and had nothing. It felt sooo good!!! ;)
Anyway, thanks for listening to me go on,
Good Luck, Gabby

Rats again! Only 0.1 pound loss this week. My doctor says don't worry, the loss WILL come. She is going to allow me to do the total fast for one week only... probably just to make me hush up. I want the weight off NOW and I don't want to be patient. I have been very VERY compliant, still weighing and measuring portions daily, still drinking over 100 oz of water, I even cut out the daily bar, just shakes and a small lean and green... I think I should be losing at least 3-4 pounds/week. Anyway... Hope this will jump start me back to losing the bigger numbers. I am trying not to get discouraged. But I feel I just HAFTA be under 200 by my New Zealand trip in MAY... I just Have To.

Karen,

Your doc is right - it WILL come off! :) You are following the plan, so it must. I know it is tough to be patient, to wait for those pounds to sloooowly ease off, but they will!

You'll get there... be strong!

:pet: I'll be back with you soon too! :)

Ooo, New Zealand in May? Too cool! Ah, The Land of Xena! :whip: (Yiyiyi YIIII!)
