Hey, Folks ~
So happy to read your great reports.
I rejoice with you Tawanda – welcome to the
60 Pound Club!
Oh, boy!
I am very proud of you.
llrickman, super week –
90 Pound Club and how
cool to have such a big drop this particular week, too.
Sure wish we could figure out the wily way our body works! Our body is put into a state of
stress when we are in the weight loss phase and many processes are occurring as it converts the stored fat to energy, releases the metabolized fat, readjusts, rejuvenates itself, etc. Our blood pressure, cholesterol levels, etc. are all affected and the body is adjusting itself to temperature changes, etc. Sometimes it needs to rest and gear up for another weight dump.
Mickey and Mike, super!
Kudos to you all for checking in and sharing your week. Some of you had record-breaking first weeks. Cool!
Makes drinking all that water worth it!
Accountability is an important part of weight management. In my formerly flabby life, I would show up at the weekly meetings for a month or so and be gung-ho, I’d follow my diet, become over-confident and then my attendance became
sporadic and then non-existent.
Somehow I used to think if I stayed off the scale and did not see the number, it did not exist.
I really needed the reinforcement and accountability of the group but I failed to follow-through and then I failed to reach my goal.
Are you like me? You feel bummed when you’ve totally followed the program, exercised most days and then the scale won’t even blink? Then feel so thrilled when the scale slides south and somehow you pulled off scarfing a handful of cashews and the scale seemed blind?
I must have had a
head-whack or somethin’ ‘cuz now I know that weekly reportage is valuable.
Sometimes I used to feel like I had to be accountable for so many things at work and school, that I was deadline-driven and the child in me wanted to shout,
“You’re not the boss of me!” and I would rebel, climb down from the pyramid of good eating habits and do my own thing.
No more. I am done with that; keeping track daily or weekly (or some of you are able to do it monthly) helps to keep us in line.
I appreciate you for reporting when the scale goes up, too.
Gulp! By doing so, it means your weight and health matter to you.
You are an amazing group of people. We live in a fat-promoting environment and you are to be commended for your efforts at weight control. You inspire me!
