Morning all, it's been a crazy week around the spider den, and sad to say, I only have a 3 pound loss to report again this week. I guess I will have to accept that as "normal" and just move on! No more 5-7 pound weeks until I am able to get out and get some exercise, I suppose.
On the bright side, I'll be meeting LW and Kat in Baltimore in a couple of weeks, and LW, Terry, Unca and our lovable Mikey in Vegas in January so I have that to look forward to!
This week will be difficult at best for all of us, especially those who are new on the program. From a practical perspective let me just say this:
If you absolutely find you cannot resist the temptation of the Thankgiving meal, remember your goal. Remember why you are in this struggle. Remember who you are doing this for and the results you want to see, whatever your individual goals may be. Whether it's to fit into that size 6 or to play with your children or grandkids. Whatever. You are doing this for your health, quality and longetivity of life. Try to stick with the plan. Yes, you may have to give up one thanksgiving dinner, but you will be blessed with the reward of adding many new ones to your life through better health.
If nothing works and you absolutely must eat, eat in moderation. When I find that I absolutely cannot resist the temptation of others eating a celebratory meal with me, I do not eat a half plate of food. I take one bite of this and one bite of that, and the bites I do have, I make sure they are healthier choices. Chicken or turkey, steamed veggies. You do not need to drink from a gravy boat to celebrate thanksgiving with those you love! Have one tiny sliver of turkey. One sliver will taste every bit as good if not better than a half plate full. A couple of steamed pieces of broccoli and carrots will taste every bit as good as mashed potatoes and gravy. A half of a Medifast chocolate caramel bar will be every bit as delicious as apple pie and ice cream!
Like everything else in your life, this week is about choices and occasionally, sacrifices. You have made the choice for a healthier you. Please stick with it so we can all enjoy our thin, healthy bodies well into old age, and hopefully, we'll still all be friends too because this has brought us together.
As the younger crowd says, Peace out, my friends! Don't be smitten by the food bug. Stay strong. If you feel your resolve breaking, check over your shoulder. There may just be a little red spidey sitting there watching!
Love to all,
~Gerald aka Spidey
