Sunday Morning Roll Call, November 21, 2004

Postby LongWay2go » November 21st, 2004, 5:28 am

Morning all, it's been a crazy week around the spider den, and sad to say, I only have a 3 pound loss to report again this week. I guess I will have to accept that as "normal" and just move on! No more 5-7 pound weeks until I am able to get out and get some exercise, I suppose.

On the bright side, I'll be meeting LW and Kat in Baltimore in a couple of weeks, and LW, Terry, Unca and our lovable Mikey in Vegas in January so I have that to look forward to!

This week will be difficult at best for all of us, especially those who are new on the program. From a practical perspective let me just say this:

If you absolutely find you cannot resist the temptation of the Thankgiving meal, remember your goal. Remember why you are in this struggle. Remember who you are doing this for and the results you want to see, whatever your individual goals may be. Whether it's to fit into that size 6 or to play with your children or grandkids. Whatever. You are doing this for your health, quality and longetivity of life. Try to stick with the plan. Yes, you may have to give up one thanksgiving dinner, but you will be blessed with the reward of adding many new ones to your life through better health.

If nothing works and you absolutely must eat, eat in moderation. When I find that I absolutely cannot resist the temptation of others eating a celebratory meal with me, I do not eat a half plate of food. I take one bite of this and one bite of that, and the bites I do have, I make sure they are healthier choices. Chicken or turkey, steamed veggies. You do not need to drink from a gravy boat to celebrate thanksgiving with those you love! Have one tiny sliver of turkey. One sliver will taste every bit as good if not better than a half plate full. A couple of steamed pieces of broccoli and carrots will taste every bit as good as mashed potatoes and gravy. A half of a Medifast chocolate caramel bar will be every bit as delicious as apple pie and ice cream!

Like everything else in your life, this week is about choices and occasionally, sacrifices. You have made the choice for a healthier you. Please stick with it so we can all enjoy our thin, healthy bodies well into old age, and hopefully, we'll still all be friends too because this has brought us together.

As the younger crowd says, Peace out, my friends! Don't be smitten by the food bug. Stay strong. If you feel your resolve breaking, check over your shoulder. There may just be a little red spidey sitting there watching!

Love to all,
~Gerald aka Spidey

Last Sunday, 202... this Sunday, 201.5.

Uh oh! I think it is the dreaded womanly Lake Superior accumulation.

I know if I chug a ton of water, in a couple days, I'll be putting less stress on the scale ;) I do solemnly swear, come heck or high water, Thanksgiving or no, NEXT SUNDAY I am breaking the 200 mark and getting into the 190's. :x

This means no putting on the feed bag next Thursday, or Friday for the after-T-Day party at my aunt's with some friends from L.A. Oh yeah, and because we haven't eaten quite our body weight, then we are going out to dinner Friday night

UGH! My family has got to be one of the most food-centric bunch of folks... who equate Food with Love. If you reject the food, you reject the cook. Thank the Lord this holiday thing is limited to only a very few days a year. Ok, that sounds awful... I love the holidays, and getting together with my family, but why does it have to be about preparing at least 8 kinds of appetizers, then a multi-course meal, concluded by dessert and coffee?

Good Morning ~

Spidey, congratuations on the 80 pound mark!. Gosh, that's 4 Bags of dog food, forever gone! That's a fourth grade kid no longer on your back! Awesome loss!

Your exhortation is great!

Sarah, I hear ya...food-centric is an excellent term to describe many family gatherings. Just remember, we have all had mashed potatoes and artery-clogging gravy, etc. many times before this coming Thanksgiving.

For many people, Thanksgiving is four days of food frenzy. We will have other oportunities to have these foods again but not in the same quantities as before or else we will return to our former weight...

Good advice, Spidey - just one bite of some foods. We don't have to be perfect but let's just think before we scarf - will this help me to reach my goals? If not, it's outta here!.

Have a great week, everyone!

I'm still de-flabbing vacation poundage... have just a five pound bag of flour to go, that's 20 cubes of buttah...

Oh Mary, those oatmeal raisin bars are the BEST!!!

Congrats on the wight loss, too - you're kicking butt.

Bershiregrl - at least you know that during the coming week the extra water will fall off!

Gerald - are youSURE I can't drink from the gravy boat? ;) That phrase had me laughing out loud. Thanks for the pep talk - you're absolutely right.

Me, I'm still 193 but it's my own fault. Hope to see 189 by next week....

Hey check me out! I actually made it to roll call ON A SUNDAY! LOL

I don't even have a loss to report...the scale is still stubbornly sitting at 241, but I'm going with the flow on it and not stressed out about it--I know it'll move next week. Or the next. Or whenever..

:felix:

I'll think about it all day every day, but not to the point of being upset. I'm still loving the plan and the much smaller clothing I'm slipping into! Things can only go down from here! (And I mean that in the BEST way!)

Glad to see you all are doing well, and keep your chin up, Gerald! Three pounds is THREE POUNDS further from that dreaded cane!!

Here I am with my usual late check in.

My weight is exactly the same but I have noticed that my clothes are noticeably smaller - so I've got some shifting going on. Things that were too tight for comfort 2 weeks ago are slightly baggy now.

Hopefully the end of this week will see a resumption of my weight loss. I'm still fighting my allergies and I believe that sleep deprivation, exhaustion, etc are major factors for me right now. I'm sure they slow things down weight-loss wise as well.

Glad everyones sticking to their guns. Let's get through this week triumphantly!

This is a great success story. Long story short....... My hubbie is from New Zealand. We met on the internet 4 years ago. He moved here and we've been married 3 wonderful years. A kiwi is the national bird of NZ and people from there are called "kiwi's". Not to be confused with the kiwi fruit (which we tend to just call kiwi)

So, I love being a loser..... cause I know that makes me a winner!!!
