Sunday Morning Roll Call: February 18, 2007

Join our weekly (Sunday) weigh in.

Postby nickieluv » February 19th, 2007, 8:41 am

I usually don't post so late on here but yesterday was a very busy day - furniture swapping with my mom so we could each have something new.

I did not make the 20# club but I was even closer today, so I'm sure by next week it will arrive. I lost 2.2 pounds, and though I would of course like more I cannot be disappointed when things are going so well! Mustn't be greedy after all.

Congratulations to everyone - I'm sorry I missed such an inspirational Sunday!

O.K. Lizabette. Is that recipe a lean ? or does the vegetable oil make it a lean AND green? There's a lot of things allowed now that sure weren't in my original quick start guide ;)

HORSEY, how have I missed you around? You have lost 90 pounds? Are you at goal or what? Do you really like horses?

DEDE said: Next week should be exciting...Joelie AND Tony at goal AND Lizabette maintaining her second goal with worms! I can't wait! DeDe

Thanks, pal. I missed you anyway!

JO said: I believe you would have to boil or steam them to make them compliant. Or maybe you could bake them, but how do you keep them from crawling out of the pan?

The worms are fried after their little insides are cleaned out, so no crawling out of the pan.
We could use our allowable good oil while on maintenance to do the deed.

Oh, guys, I confess I have never eaten worms, silk or otherwise.
I have visited China and Hong Kong a number of times during our missionary/traveling days,
but I never induldged in many of the dishes. Although some were pretty tasty!
I understand that BIKI is going to Hong Kong soon. She's pretty brave...maybe she will try them out and bring us back a report.
That is, if she can break away from all the shopping.
Best in the world!

Well, so much for eating worms...

Oh, Lizabette. I've been around a long time. I lost my weight pretty much in 2005, but came back for a post holiday touchup. I do keep an eye on these boards though. Good for the soul and the figure. yes, I like horses. I make my living as a equine sculptor. I think there are pictures on this board somewhere. As for the worms, when I started in January of 2005. the quick start was a lot more restrictive than it is now, less meat, less vegetables, less salad, fewer choices, and NO WORMS! :-P However I've seen pictures of worm eating peoples around the world and they all look pretty skinny, so I think there must be something to it. So don't give up on trying those worms. Might be a great maintainance dish. Congratulations on your second goal. Whatever are you going to do next?

Lizabette, I really think I am going to stick to the seafood and chicken while I am there, just like at home but with a special Asian flair. I am chicken and probably will be eating that, and shrimp too. Remember, I am staying on plan, so I only get to be adventurous once a day! I would get my husband to the worm delicacies but he has that old vegetarian excuse he has been hauling around for over 20 years.

HORSEY, I checked out your pictures of the equine sculpures and brought them back up on STUDIO.
I know there must have been others who missed those wonderful pictures like I did! WOW AGAIN!!!

Thanks UNCA, you are so considerate and helpful to us...

BIKI, You may not sculpt horses, but you don't have to be ashamed of YOUR artistic talents. Just keep developing them and making people HAPPY!
You should have no trouble in HK keeping compliant...there will be soooo much to do.
Hope you can boat out to the JUMBO restaurant. It is a sight to see!

a late post for the Sunday weigh in - well I did weigh on Sunday but didnt get to post it 'cos my internet was down and we went away for a few days R & R.

Down 4lbs this week - 1.6kgs - and this was definitely a difficult week since there were too many meals out and about given the party season.

Reading about the worms just brought back the meal we had the other night on my BIL's birthday - some of his old classmates ordered for us before we got to the restaurant and called up a plate of fried black beetles and another plate of pupae of some description rolled in sugar.

I didn't think it looked lean and green so I passed!

Kind regards

Gavin
(off for another few days tomorrow to visit China's home of the dinosaurs - wonder if we get to eat any dino bones?)

Hi Biki,

Where are you staying in Hong Kong and what are your plans- I know HKG pretty well and can give you a few tips.

It is very easy to slip across to Shenzhen which is in China (33 minutes by train from Hong Kong - I have a company in Shenzhen and a sister in law hehehe - I go there quite a bit, so can give you a few tips there as well - such as - if you are clothes shopping buy in Shenzhen - not in Hong Kong - much much cheaper!

Anything I can do to help let me know.

Kind regards

Gavin
