Subway Salads

Postby Mike » September 15th, 2007, 9:24 pm

We have recently come to realize the Subway makes salads. They will make any sandwich as a salad... just ask. They are really good, and if you get double meat and no cheese, its a great Lean and Green idea.

Just thought I'd throw the idea out there.

When I went there and they actually measured 6 ounces of chicken for me my salad was NINE dollars. Maybe that was just my Subway. They have their portions already measured into 2 ounce servings. I had grilled chicken. Subway has always made salads. You could just request the sandwich without the bread.

Hi

On the road, I do Subway several times a week. Grilled chicken and baby spinach salad...yep! Love it!

Mine is $7ish with the grilled chicken breasts heated up and cut up. I like having more viable options on the road!

The last couple of times we have chosen the Subway Club salad. The guy here uses iceberg and Spinach, which I find tasty. The double meat seemed to be too much for me (smaller stomach), but its tastes great. It was close to $7 with the double meat. Probably $6 with just meat with cheese I suppose.

You know, this might really help me, Mike. We have a Subway nearby (within walking distance, actually) so if I'm really feeling like I want to eat out every day, I can walk down and get a salad. Exercise AND a viable L&G - sounds like the jackpot to me! Maybe it will just hit the spot with what I seem to be struggling through lately.

I know - not a good idea to do this every day. I'm just saying - it might help get me back on track.

I'm so out of touch - I told my husband the 'walk to Subway' plan and he told me that Subway had been closed for over a year. So I can't walk there - but at the very least it will make me leave the house because Subway doesn't deliver, and that might slow me down some.

They have fat free Italian that I know of or you can just get red wine vinegar.

The Subways here and in Georgia offer Walden Farms dressings with the salads. I personally think the dressings have a really off taste, so I just use Hellman's spritzers.

I like just the vinegar. Sometimes, I get their fat-free Ranch or bring it home and use our own fat free Ranch. But, really, I just like the vinegar. And this from a former Thousand Island addict!!

I love vinegar too! I like it in soups too, added right before I eat them.
