Stress and its consequences: making the connection

Postby Seaside » February 7th, 2007, 9:41 am

Today has been stressful and it isn't even lunchtime yet! I have a really jam-packed schedule and manage to juggle everything well -- now I think I know why. When things started getting a little tense at work today all I could think about was stuffing my face with something calorie-laden and yummy. The difference is, this time (unlike all the other times) I didn't. This is a big step for me and I have my five weeks on Medifast and your support to thank for it.

I was able to "deal" with stress in the past by drugging myself with food; now, I am going to take a deep breath, chug some Crystal Light peach iced tea and *actually* deal with things. Amazing it took me almost 40 years to figure this out. I'm quick!

Good for you! Keep making the right choices and, eventually, you won't have to work so hard at it.

Way to go. Realizing that we all habitually use food as a drug is the first step to becoming less dependent on it. We will never cure ourselves, but we can work with that knowledge and maintain our weight loss.

Thanks, everyone! I really do feel like I turned some kind of corner this week . It's gonna be a long haul but I see people here who have faced the same challenge and succeeded -- you have no idea what an inspiration it is for me!
