Storing Medifast

Postby 2BHealthy » May 10th, 2006, 6:39 am

You know, I have so much MF stuff because both me and my husband are on it. It is over taking my house. I don't want to keep it in the garage because it will get too hot. It won't fit in the cabinets?! Where and how do you store yours? Do you take it out of the boxes?

Mine is in the shipping box sitting in my bedroom. I also need to figure out something else to do with it, but I'm not sure what. There isn't any room in the kitchen!

Hey Linda, I have a wooden cabinet that is in my dining room that has two doors, four shelves and a drawer on the bottom. It is called a "pie safe". You would really use it to store dishes and table linens etc., but it is perfect for my Medifast. That is where everything goes. You might look into some of those plastic drawers that come in like a set of three and are see through and on wheels. I also saw somewhere on here that someone sent in a picture of an over the door hanging shelf that they used to store their Medifast. Terri

Hi there! When I got my first box of MF yesterday I stored it in a pink crate I had bought from staples a while back. It held the entire month (in the boxes), plus they are stackable. They come in other colors. ;)

I keep mine in a milk crate that I, honest to God, didn't steal !!! We have a small kitchen with limited cabinet space so there isn't alot of room for all the boxes. I tend to order quite a bit at a time to get the free shipping so it piles up when it gets here. When the milk crate starts to get empty, I know it's time to order.

Thankfully, I have lots of storage in my kitchen, so I have one cabinet reserved just for Medifast (other than my RTDs, which go in the pantry). I get cases of my favorites when they're on sale, so I have a lot of extra boxes around.

Someone posted a photo of a rack they installed in their pantry that keeps all their Medifast organized. That was a really cool idea if you can find it.

I have cleared a whole shelf in my pantry, but still that's not enough room because I buy in bulk to get the great discounts. The overflow goes on a closet shelf in the box it came in. I keep the packets in their original boxes, but lately have been looking for a storage system that would elimate the bulky boxes. Haven't found the right one yet.

A full shelf in my refrigerator has been allocated to RTD's.

My overhead storage in my cubicle at work is also packed with shakes, bars, oatmeal, soup.

I prolly have a year's supply, hehe.

Do a search on the top of this page, type in storing Medifast, and you will see a post dated March 30 or 31st and beyond, which suggests storage ideas. And, in addition, a couple of members posted pictures. Hope this helps.

Storage

Postby Mike » May 10th, 2006, 12:51 pm

Diana and I have 5 canisters on our counter. We put my 70 shakes in one, her 55 shakes in one, hot drinks in another, bars in another, and chili in another. We ususally grab our daily meals from there and replinish from our pantry when one gets low. The rest of the food is stored in our pantry (which we pretty much emptied of almost all other food because we couldn't have it :D )
Hope this idea helps.

Hubby and I are both doing medifast too and storage is a definite issue....it's taken up half of my LARGE pantry and an entire cabinet! (and there's still some in a box under our desk!) However, I've ordered cases of the stuff we love so it's always in stock.

I'd suggest taking out what you think you'll eat for the week and keep the rest in the boxes somewhere cool and dry.

Good Luck!

I bought the disposable ziplock (or maybe mine are hefty, not sure) plastic containers. I put the packets in these. I put like packets into the same container. On the end of the container, I taped the front of the original box, so I would know what is in the container, along with preparation instructions (in case I forget). I have the containers just stacked on top of my fridge. They are easy to get to , it is easy to see what is in each one, and the containers were not a waste of money, as I will be able to use them later to store other foods. It was a cheap solution to my problem.

That's a good idea, Laurie...I might try that one. Right now, I keep one box of each flavor on a lazy-susan in my kitchen, and the rest is down in my storage room on a big shelf. If I tried your idea, I could see right away if I'm getting low on something, and I could keep more packets on my lazy-susan upstairs. Thanks for the tip!

Me,
I can't help with this problem! Everyone doesn't have ALL their MF supplies in a suitcase and schleps it all over the country? What's a cupboard? Hmm, pantry? Storage room?
