Still tired....

Postby JustLynda » February 25th, 2006, 7:49 am

I have been on the program for 1 week, and feel like I'm getting used to it. I am still hungry sometimes, but I've gotten used that, too--it's not the "herione junky" kind of hunger (not that I was ever a heroine junky), just a little pang every now and then. And, the food is surprisingly good!

However, I still find myself having pretty low energy most of the time and even fell asleep sitting up on the couch yesterday afternoon! This morning, I could barely keep my eyes open driving into work.

I've seen many people write about how much more energy they have and even that they don't require as much sleep as previously. When does this increase of energy kick in? Am I expecting too much too soon?

Please advise.

Thanks,
Lynda

PS. I've been very diligent about having a supplement every 2-3 hours, haven't skipped any meals, am drinking 64-100+ oz of water every day, and religiously consume my 2 servings of boullion every day.

Lynda

Hang in there I am sure more energetic days are coming. I never really noticed a marked increase in energy as some did but come to find out I have some health problems with my ear and sinuses so my body may be drained from fighting that. It does take some longer to see that increase in energy so like I said hang in there and see how you feel in a few days.

Hiya Lynda my diet buddy. lol

I am sorta down and out right now because I am on muscle relaxers for my neck..but before I pulled the muscle. I was feeling sorta punky and I took 2000mcg of b12, seemed to pull me up to par.

I can remember when I was a teen and was on medifast(the full plan and back then I think it was 5 shakes a day only) I had to go to the doc each week and get checked out and get a shot of b12.

Maybe try something like that?

Sending some energy vibes lady!!!Image

Hi Lynda

Congrats for sticking with the program! It sounds like you're doing a great job.

Please be careful driving if you're sleepy. :headphones: Crank up the music!!

From other posts I have read here the tiredness only lasts the first week or so while our bodies adjust. That was how it was with me. I was tired different times of the day and much earlier in the evening the first 7-10 days, but now I'm back to my regular schedule. I have an occasional sleepy day, but again I think, it's our bodies adjusting to the changes.

I bet Nancy or one of the others will post more info. for you.

Take care,
:D

I have not had an increse in energy either. This is like week 6 or so for me. I do find that on days when I am the most exhausted, I tend to lose well for the next few days. Also, if I get a good nights sleep AND I can get in a nap with the kids, I lose better. I can almost feel myself burning fat if I get enough rest. When I can't rest and I am doing a million things all the time, I think my body is holding on to it. So I have resigned myself to eating every 2 -2 1/2 hours, sleeping plenty, and taking naps daily......not so bad now that I think about it! Hang in there, the weight will come off!!!

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. I work full time and am also in graduate school, and can't really afford the extra time for napping.

It looks like I need to...

a) give it a little more time as I'm only on Day 8
b) get some B12 vitamins

Hi Lynda,
You may want to try fitting in an extra shake for a few days, if you can, and see if that picks you up a little. You may just be so active that you need a few more calories. If that works for you, you may want to order a weeks worth of 70 next order and see if that helps....

How's your average weight loss been?

Hi Unca,

To answer your question about the average weight loss, I dropped about 7 pounds days 1-4. I've lost another 1/2 pound days 5-7.

I work in a public library, so I am on my feet all day--walking around with customers, shelving items, etc. But, I never considered myself terribly active. Do you think the extra shake is better than the B12 supplement?

Hi Lynda,
Both are worth a try if you continue feeling a little punky. Might be a good idea to try one at a time, so you can draw a conclusion on whether or not it's effective. Then again, you may get through this in a couple of days.

I'm not familiar with using the B12 supplement. I'll research it a little and let you know what I find. nurse@medifastdiet.com will get you in touch with the Nurse too, if you'd like to ask her....
