I'm back! Wooo, quite an exhausting and educating trip in my former stomping grounds of Eat-Whatevah land. It's good to be safely back on the wagon.
I spent 4 days feeling like there was a brick in my stomach. Interesting that I used to eat like that all the time and never gave it a second thought. I kept thinking, "any minute now, this is going to taste/feel like it used to."
I find it similar to smoking. I have quit smoking many times before and I would always go back to it after a few weeks. Once you've been away from smoking, you have to get your body used to it again when you start. The cigarette does not taste good and it makes you a little dizzy to smoke it. After a day or so, your body adjusts. It tastes better, and doesn't make you dizzy, and then you are addicted again. You have to put in effort to get there.
I think it is the same way with crappy foods. Your body rebels against too much grease and processed carbs, but if you do it long enough, it adjusts, they taste better, and you get addicted to them. Heck, I remember a time last year when I was moving that I had fast food for dinner every night for weeks. The thought of that now makes me queasy. Next time I step off the wagon it will be at Eat-an-apple-ville.
So, I'm glad to be back. I gained some pounds, but I am not even going to worry about them for a few days. We'll see what sticks around till Sunday, then I'll change my ticker. Thank you for all the kind words and birthday wishes. You guys are the best wagon-buddies a gal could have!
