Started yesterday, worried but ready

Postby Quartercircle » March 9th, 2007, 7:02 pm

Well I started Full Fast yesterday, my doctor said I check out, but I keep feeling unconfortable about only 5 meals a day :) I know it works but sometimes it's scary I'm eating so little. I hear I can interchange to a 5+1 plan whenever I want, and even go between the two? If that is so, then that is great :)

Day 1 was was pretty easy actually, I woke up feeling horrible today, but after one shake I felt really good. If this is the hardest part then I know I'm going to be fine.

I had really low expectations for the shakes, but they ended up being a lot better than I thought the would. I'm looking forward to mixing them with diet soda/crystal light, that sounds so good. (With extra water on the side of course.)

I can have as much crystal light as I want, right? I usually buy these tubes that have like 6 packets in them, and each packet makes a couple liters.

This isn't so bad :)

Actually, on the program, full fast is 6 meal relacements, not 5. If you go between the full fast and the 5 + 1, you have 6 meal replacements or 5 replacements and a Lean and Green. Just want to make sure you are getting enough.

The key with fluids is at least 64 oz of pure water. After that, Crystal light and other things are okay (minding the calories of course).

Welcome

I believe on a full fast you still have 6 meals a day, it's just 6 supplements instead of 5+1. You might want to double-check that.

As much plain water as you want is OK. The Crystal Light - I'm not positive. It's been a question I've had. I guess the artificial sweetener can set up cravings or something? But there's nothing technically wrong with it as far as I know.

Others who have been on plan longer, and the HAs, might have more info for you. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Oh, I thought it was 5 because in the FAQ forum, it says a 6th shake "if you need it"

Oh another thing, I can make a ton of chicken at once, and microwave it later (just drink extra water to make up for the evaporation) right? If thats the case I'll most likely just do 5+1 :D

Typically, we refer to the Full Fast as 6 supplements.

Yup, yup...it's either 6 supplements or 5 supplements + 1 lean and green meal. The "6th shake if you need it" refers to someone on the 5/1 plan who may need an additional shake to conquer the "hungries," or if their activity level warrants more calories.

The full fast also includes any of the other supplements ~ you are not restricted to having only shakes if you are on the full fast. It's 6 supplements in any combination (with the exception of only one bar per day). So...you could have 6 shakes per day, or 6 oatmeals per day, or 6 chilis per day ~ or any combination of supplements that add up to 6, for the full fast. The same goes for the 5/1 plan. Any combination of 5 supplements, plus the one lean and green meal.

Some of the meal supplements are quite filling - like the scrambled eggs, beef stew, and oatmeals. Also, the different supplements add way more variety than just having shakes all day.

Welcome, QC ~ congrats on the decision you have made to better your health!

Oh alright :( Guess I need to spend more money then, but I guess I can make a weeks worth of chicken before hand :) won't be too much I guess.

Also, am I able to boil the chicken to cool it? I can't really broil.

I assume you mean cook it, and yes, of course. For the L&G, 7 oz turkey, chicken, fish, or 5 oz LEAN beef, pork, lamb (cooked weight).

Oh great :D I thought it HAD to be broiled. Well in this case 5+1 sounds fine :) I absolutely adore chicken and love the recipes in our Lean Cuisine forum.

Thanks all :D

The foreman grill or similar grills are a lifesaver! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine. This is probably the most used appliance in the house (except the fridge).

Wow, 7oz of chicken is a LOT more than I expected. On the grill it tasted even better than before :) ate some of it wrapped in lettuce and tomato.

I agree! Even before I was a MFer, I loved my George Foreman!

Medifast really is a learning process, how to eat healthy and the right amount, learning at the same time what it will take to maintain after you reach goal.
Come right on back with all the questions you have...memorize the Quick Start Guide and pretty soon, you'll be helping others along this journey! :drive:
Important: Don't skip any meals, eat everything you are supposed to, and drink you water! WOW, you are going to have a ball!
TIP: Have fun with it!

Welcome! and Good Luck! :wavie:
Just a thought........I love grilled or smoked chicken, so I buy a huge package of boneless breasts and cook them all at one time. I have a food saver, so I individually shrink wrap each of them after they have cooled. When I get ready to have one, I cut the corner off of the bag and nuke it! It tastes like it JUST came off of the grill because there is no air in the bag! :D My food saver is the BEST gift my hubby ever gave me. It really helps because I can put up leftovers that way and pop them in the microwave when I need a quick meal.
I'm glad that you have decided to join us. When you have any questions, just ask away! You have ALOT of new friends here!
