Started MF today

Postby Tiffany38 » April 2nd, 2007, 2:14 pm

Hi everyone,

I started medifast (5-0) today under physician supervision. I have about 90 lbs to lose and will be 38 in 2 weeks.

I did MF about 14 years ago and lost about 50 lbs in 3 months but then just quit one day and never went back. So I know it works, and I still remember how good I felt while doing it. Especially as the weight came off.

My question/concern is this. with so much weight to lose now, how do I do it and not end up with flabby arms and extra skin people do when they lose a bunch of weight??

Thanks and I look forward to joining you all!

Welcome,

I am a little concerned though. If you are doing the Complete program you should be having 6 supplements. Only with your doctors supervision. IF you are doing the 5 supplements you really need the Lean & Green. If you have any questions just ask. We are here for you.

Katie beat me to it. 5-0 is way too little nutrition. Talk with your Doctor again and make sure that this is what they want you to do. The full fast is 6-0. The regular program is the 5-1. We all want you to be successful, and to do that, you need to fuel your body properly.

Well, some people have more extra skin than others. It can depend on genetics, skin elasticity, age and how long you have been overweight. The way I look at it is this-if I have loose flabby skin I earned it by getting big. The only other option is staying fat or bunches of plastic surgery. When I am done I may consider the plastic surgery option.

The other thing to remember is don't hesitate to exercise after about 3 to 4 weeks, to help with firming up. You may help to tighten that skin up.

Image TIFFANY!
Please don't let your worry about flabby skin keep you from your comittment to lose all the weight you need to for your health and fitness!

And do check again about the supplements. We worry you will not be taking in enough nutrition with 5-0.
I hope you can go with the 5-1 for quick weight loss and feeling good while losing your weight. It works great!
What did you do before when you were on M/F?
Great to have you on the journey.

Thanks for all your replies.

I did check with my dr. who told me that yes indeed, 5-0. he said I can have the 6th shake if feeling hungry the first few days, but to stick to the 5-0 routinely. He said he prefers his patients stick to the shakes initially and after a few weeks if I wanted, I could add the lean & green meal. So we'll just see how I can get by without it for now. He said the misconception out there is the 5-0 is bad but under physcian plan, it is perfectly safe and effective.

I had my shake this a.m. and then made a pot of hot tea instead of my typical coffee. (I find that coffee is a trigger for me to want to eat other stuff, junk, etc.). And I have to admit that I am feeling better about me for making the leap to do this!

And all of your successes are just terrific motivators and very inspiring. To think that i could really lose 80 lbs in 6 months is very motivational.

Hmmm... I've never heard of a physician doing this. Then again, they are the professionals. ;)

You certainly can, but more importantly is not the time-table, but just losing it and getting healthier! You will do great, just keep making good decisions like tea instead of coffee for noe!
