Hi all-
Newbie here. Today was my first day using medifast. I won't lie, it's been rough. My biggest problem is how the food tastes. I don't know what I was expecting, but I think it's not really that good. My first meal was Blueberry Oatmeal. Ugggg, I literally had to hold my nose and take huge spoonfuls and choke it down to just put myself out of the misery I was in. Wow, it was just nasty. I think it would make a better glue product than anything. No matter how hard I tried to thin it out, it just got stickier! Next, Minestrone soup, better, but not all that. So off to the Homestyle Chili, getting better than the Minestrone, but it sure wasn't Hormel. Now the Banana shake was....good. I didn't mind it, blended it up with a little ice and it was palitable. Thank God for the lean and green meal that happened next. I felt somewhat normal eating "real" food. Ended the evening with a chocolate bar. Seemed a bit gritty and the chocolate flavor I was craving was missing, but it was eatable. What can I do to make these meals more appealing to the tastebuds? I really want to succeed, but I can't see going months and months eating this food. How do you all spice things up so to speak. I would love to hear about your favorite foods and how you have made them enjoyable. Thanks! :D

HI and welcome here is a post i put on another persons question

A few of the things i do are I rarley drink a shake thats not frozen i put it in my bullet with some ice and whirl away.
The soups for me need some doctoring especially the chilli but after that its actually one of my fav's

I add a little chilli powder, maybe some garlic powder, a few slices of sliced jalapeno and a lil juice from the jar to the chilli and love it

The cream soups i use a submersible blender thingy the whip them up if i dont they come out real lumpy also i might add a 1/2 tsp of Better than Boullion to them too I love the Lobster BTB added to the cream of broccoli

Another thing is with soups like chilli, Chicken and wild rice, Minestrone, etc.. you have to let them soak a while before eating them to let the dehydrated veggies and things rehydrate. matter of fact i have a Chicken and Wild rice in the fridge soaking now for lunch

Most defiantely check out the lean cuisine section you will find some wonderful recipes for MF meals and for your L&G

Welcome. First of all, your tastes will change somewhat. I was a confirmed oatmeal-hater, but after a while, I actually liked it. There are some products you'll NEVER like (for me it was the shakes).

For ways to doctor things up, visit the Lean Cuisine section. It's full of ideas. But for things like the chili, it's essential to either let it soak or to simmer it on a stove (I let it soak). Unless, of course, you enjoy crunchy beans. I'd give you my ways to fix up the chili, but if your ideal is Hormel ... well, I think that tastes like dog food, so we might not have the same palate.

But definitely visit Lean Cuisine; you'll find plenty of suggestions to try. And give it a chance. If there's something you truly hate, either trade it away in the Swap section or just put it away for a bit and try it again later. You'll be surprised at how your palate adjusts.

I agree with Robin, You tastes will change, mine changed after the first week, Could not stand any of the soups, still can't. But I love the shakes. That is the only thing I drink all day.. I think once you find the few things that you like run with it. There are many things that you can do to the shakes, like add vanilla extract to the French Vanilla shake, or you could add cinnamon or nutmeg. Also doctor up your oatmeals add some spices, I think you will really end up liking them.
Well good luck If you need anything just ask <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_3_36.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D23%252F23_3_36/image.gif"> & <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_28_109.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D23%252F23_28_109/image.gif">

I have been on Medifast for 237 days and all I consume anymore are the shakes and hot drinks and oatmeal. I kept ordering things I didn't like so I could have a bit of variety but there are enough flavors of drinks that I find myself satisfied.

There are lots of "fixers" for a variety of the products in the Lean Cuisine section in addition to lots of ideas for the L&G.

Welcome to the forum. If you have any questions, there are lots of foks here who have success and know how to get things to work for them.

Have a great rest of your day.

Thanks for the warm welcome....day 2 is underway. So far so good. I tried Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal this morning. Added a 1/2 packet of spelda and a little dash of vanilla extrat. It was pretty yummy. I froze a banana shake overnight and pretended it was ice cream just a bit ago, so that was satisfying as well. I guess the key is to be creative and we'll be ok right! Looking forward to the rest of my day and planning my lean and green. That still seems to be the most exciting meal for me....LOL. Saw a recipe for cauliflower "mashed potatoes" in the lean cuisine section so I'm going to try that. Can't wait. Have a great day everyone.

Too funny, Biki. In my year and a half on the program, I hardly ever had any shakes (other than RTDs) after the first month. Blech. But I ate broccoli soup pretty much every day.

Thankfully, there are enough products that pretty much everyone can find something they can live with.

They are very very good especially with a spritz of ICBINB spray on them but make sure your measure your 1 1/2 cups before you mash them or you might end up having alot more than you intended

Hi and Welcome, :)

It is funny that you picked all my least favorite foods for your first day! As everyone has said, your tastes will adjust, though I have never developed a taste for the oatmeal. You'll find things you like and figure out ways to adjust things to your own tastes.

Good Luck!

Hi! Today is day 4, right? You should be feeling pretty good by now! I hope you were able to find more things you liked. I had the same experience as Biki - I kept ordering different things because I thought I needed variety, but at this point all I ever have are bars and Ready-to-Drink shakes. That will probably change when winter rolls back around - more maple and brown sugar oatmeal, beef stew, and hot cocoa will be on my shelves then I bet. Hope you're doing well!

I, too, love the oatmeal.....just ordered 8 boxes! Well, okay so it was on sale and I'm planning in addition to having it for breakfast, that I'll make some cookies on occasion.

Your tastes and feelings about some of the foods will change in the first month if you are like the majority of us.
