OK here we go again. Spoiled sport Lisa strikes again!(joyce that is just for you) I did a search and found this

Rich, full-bodied Starbucks® espresso in steamed milk lightly topped with foam.

I again would say no because like someone else said this is just way too much milk IMHO

I am starting to feel like that hall monitor that all the other kids hate but searching the internet for nutritional facts is really interesting so I am going to go hide now and duck the tomatoes :couch: :tomato:

Again remember I am fairly new to this too so I could be wrong and if I am someone please step in and correct me

My plan of attack is that if the Quick Start Guide doesn't specifically say that I CAN have it, then I can't.

Also, if you look at the Quick Start Guide on page 8 it says "Don't Eat Extra Carbs." Just one cup (8 oz) of skim milk has 11.9 grams of carbohydrates. I know you don't want to believe me about this, but it's true.

I love lattes myself, and am very sad that I'll have to give them up. But, I think we all have to give up a little something if we're going to take this thing seriously.

Falisamarie--I like seeing your "food facts." Sometimes it takes a hall monitor to keep things running smoothly! :)

PS...does anyone have an opinion about a soy latte as an alternative? Perhaps this would help satisfy Holly's need for latte.

Remember, you don't have to give up latte's forever. Just hang in there through weight loss and mainteance and soon you can have a latte in moderation. Sometimes if we thing we can never have something again we want it more.

Lisa, love you as a hall monitor. We need you. keep up the good work.

According to the Starbucks.com website,

a 16 oz (grande--which is the middle size) latte made with skim milk has...

Calories 160
Fat 0g
Carbs 24g
(of which sugars=20g)

The 20 oz (venti--which is the largest size) latte made with skim milk has...

Calories 210
Fat 0g
Carbs 30g

PS The stats on the soy latte are similar.

Those carbs are enough to throw the balance off, Holly. I'd stay away from the latte for now, sorry.

Great info Lisa & Lynda!

I don't want to come across as "mean" holly, but you keep asking about foods that aren't in the QuickStart Guide. If you concentrate on what is IN the guide and not the things that are NOT in the guide you'll be very successful. The plan works if you follow it. If you add a little of this and a little of that you will not lose as fast or you won't lose at all.

The simplicity of the program is why it works so well for me. I think it is what others have mentioned too. The guesswork is taken out of the equation for us. We know to eat 5 Medifast meals a day and that's it. We know what our Lean & Green can include by following the guide. The legal snacks are also listed.

You can do it by the book. You can give up the extras for now if you really want to. Then, later down the road when you reach your goal you can add back the "extras" that you're craving or missing now.

JMHO. Have a great MF day everyone! Happy Saturday!!

Holly,

Honey we do not think you are making this up we have just all never been told it was ok. I am glad you have the book but I would stress that if it is not in that book I would not eat it. You do not have too terribly much to lose and those things will still be there for maintenance. We all love you honey and are just responding with the knowledge we have. I am sure Nancy will be along soon and I would take her advice over any other. She is a proven product of how well this works.

We all want what is best for you!

Big hugs

Oh My Goodness

Postby Jan » February 18th, 2006, 11:30 am

Oh My goodness Holly,
I can't decide if I should give you a big hug and say "Don't worry you'll make it" or if I should .... hmmm I don't know exactly what :? Here's a great rule for you to follow. Since I now know you have the Quick Start Book--- read read read and if it isn't written in black and white right there -- don't eat it. That is the only way you are going to have success on this program. It is a very very strict program for a reason -- that's the way you lose the best. That's what you want to do huh???? I haven't the foggiest who would tell you that you could have two Starbucks lattes each day. I would ring their neck :x You can't!!! Nancy and I love love love Starbucks -- do we drink the lattes??? No we have either plain coffee with a splash of creamer or plain tea. We do sit and watch others -- many of whom are rather round -- drink those calorie laden delicious treats. We are both on maintenance and even so we don't treat ourselves except at very very infrequent times. Just toooo
many calories.

ok ill order the chai

Postby hollyhouse » February 18th, 2006, 11:54 am

when i initially ordered 1 months worth of medifast i asked if i can have a fat free sugar free latte and this lady at medifast said as long as it was fat free sugar free it would be ok.
I know it doesn't say it in the book. i just thought that it was like having coffee. i didn't think much of it since there is no sugar in it. so where is the carbs coming from? i guess even with fat free milk there are still carbs to worry about.

I just called the 1-800 number to medifast and this lady said not to have it.

ok ok so i am learning. you all made it clear that there is no way around the written book so i will for now on make it my bible.

sorry if some of you are getting annoyed at my posts but i guess im a slow learner and just stubborn.
if i wasn't i guess i wouldn't have this weight problem.

Thanks for all your support

Holly,

I think everyone was afraid you would think they were picking on you so they have been extra careful in their responses. I don't think they would have taken the time to write all they did if they didn't care. If they were feeling superior or annoyed with you I doubt they would have wasted their time replying.
Please don't feel you are a slow learner. Unfortunately some of us have been on diet after diet after diet.... You tend to pick up a lot of nutritional info along the way. I just learned about all the natural sugars and carbs in milk a few months ago, and believe me, no one has more dieting experience than me! So we all can learn something from other people's questions.
I'm sorry you were given wrong information at Medifast. The first person you talked to obviously didn't know the program. If you haven't tried it already take the medifast cappacinno add about 4 or 5oz cold water and stir. In a seperate mug pour some cooled coffee, next add your cappacinno and additional sweetner and a splash of ff/sf creamer. Then heat in the microwave for a couple minutes It tastes really good!

Take care :D
