anybody ever tried that? im thinking about trying it out... havent looked to see if there are any type of speed dating things around here yet though

isn't speed dating when you meet your date and realize that the person you asked out a week ago has grown horns and bad breath, and you fake illness in the first 5 minutes?

its when you circulate table to table and talk to someone for 10 minutes and keep a score sheet and i guess mark down who you would want to see again and if they mark you then they get your contact info and vice versa

i know what speed dating is.
i've never tried it. i prefer to stand next to freeway on ramps in rush hour with my phone number on a cardboard sign.

I tried it a couple of times. Both times, I wound up with no matches (to match, you have to select them and they have to select you). The first time, I had only selected two that I'd even consider meeting again. The second time, I didn't meet ANYone I had any interest in seeing - or talking to - again.

hehe well it might be fun anyways... lol alex... with the results ive gotten in the dating world i may as well have just done that.. bad dates suck and as of lately ive had too many bad dates.. makes me thankful im unattached

How much info can one person get in 10 minutes? This is interesting and I am soooooo glad I am married and don't have to worry about dating a stranger again.

I'm with you, Elke! 10 minutes is just long enough for someone to tell you a big ol story so that you can think he/she is "perfect" only to find out that they are in to bondage and swinging and stuff. Unless, of course, that is what you are looking for, then more power to ya!!

I've done it here but it's only 5 minutes per person and it runs $35 a night.

Not worth my time or money but good luck to you!

I just can't stand the thought anymore of paying to meet someone.

I saw the movie, but I'm trying to remember the scene. Basically, the women sat at little tables, and the men switched tables every few minutes. You weren't allowed to talk about jobs or a few other topics that people talk about when they first meet.

At the ones I went to, people were supposedly paired up based on several criteria (age, etc.) because there wasn't time to meet everyone of the opposite sex who showed up. The first one was OK, except for not meeting anyone of interest. The second time, they paired me with people who could be ruled out immediately (either they were 20 or 30 years older than me, or they were Orthodox, or whatever; it was a Jewish event).

If you like talking to strangers and being judged pretty much solely based on appearance (since there's not time to judge based on much else), then you may enjoy it. It takes me more than 10 minutes just to get comfortable enough to speak.

I've never done speed dating, but I can recommend internet dating. That's how I met my husband. I think it's a great way to meet someone compatible, especially if you're not into bars, don't go to church, and don't want to date someone from work.
